| I typically give candy to all kids, even the ones without a costume. We even have pet treats.Though I have to say we don't get many older that probably 13. I figure most teens have parties to go to. Truthfully if you come to our house after a certain time child or adult you get candy just to get it out of the house! |
Same. We give candy to all; it's a fun day and we're not the Halloween police. Our kids stop trick or treating around 13, as it's not cool anymore. |
| Any age. If people dress up and are earnestly enjoying themselves, so be it. It was fun as a teen to run around with my friends. But by 16 we all wore masks 'cuz it was a little embarrassing. |
Over 12 years old. |
| I don’t even care if they are in costume. In my experience the older teens are the most polite and thankful. |
| As long as you come between dusk and 8pm, and you’re reasonably polite, you can have candy. |
| When my kids were toddlers, I remember thinking a bunch of middle schoolers were too old. Now I have teenagers. My 13 and 15 year olds went trick or treating last year in costumes. I know my 14yo plans to go. |
Same. I was 13 and out with 3 friends. An old woman screamed at us that we were too old and slammed the door in our faces. It has stuck with me for years. So I give candy to everyone. |
Ugh im so sorry for the both of you. I too, was a "young" middle schooler, thankfully, i don't remember adults giving my friends and i a hard time. I really just wanted to still be a kid and enjoy my childhood. Thats what kids should do. |
Did you catch the part where I was 10 |
| I'd say 21. I trick or treated until I was 17, some kids are young for their age and don't like going to parties and doing other things. Kids grow up faster these days for many reasons so why turn a kid over 12 away? |
Ok, what did you mean? |
My point was that people making assumptions about children’s ages are often incorrect. |
Ok gotcha! |
| One year when I was 11 or 12 someone refused to give candy to my friend and me, fully dressed in costumes, because we were “too old”! I never refuse anyone candy who shows up in costume. Hell, I’d give candy to adults in costume too. I always buy too much anyways and am happy to get rid of it! |
