It's weird that you are using religion to advocate/pressure others into agreeing with your political views. Catholic teachings are also strictly anti abortion and anti contraception. Are you willing to ban women's reproductive health as well? Or are you a hypocrite? |
DP... In my opinion, it's a far greater hypocrisy and affront to Christianity to be anti-abortion and anti-contraception while ignoring the core teachings of Christ where it comes to taking care of the sick, the poor, the elderly, refugees and the marginalized, and showing compassion. Christ explicitly taught those values, and his command was clear, whereas he was silent on the areas of abortion and contraception. Supporting access to abortion and contraception while being in favor of compassion and taking care of the sick and the poor and refugees diverges from Church doctrine (which has changed over time where it comes to abortion and contraception), but is still aligned to Gospel ethos and core teachings of Christ, whereas the opposite is not true. Claiming to be "pro-life" and only caring about abortion and contraception while ignoring the suffering of the marginalized and people in need (and leaving them to die from hunger or illness or persecution) contradicts the holistic ethic of life and dignity directly commanded and taught by Christ in the Gospels. |
| He also blessed a chunk of ice, so there’s that. |
Fo for you Inhumane treatment = chunk of ice? |
We are not discussing your opinion. We are discussing the positions of the catholic church and words of the pope. |
+1 it's because they are forced birthers, not pro life. |
Well, the words of the Pope are to treat immigrants as Christ would have - to love and take care of them. |
? Are you saying the Catholic church shouldn't follow Christ's teaching, and that their doctrine is above Christ's teachings? I'm confused. |
The Jesuit colleges churn out more progressives than conservatives - which of course is why the "trad" Catholics don't like them. |
And I am pointing out that you cannot pick and choose where we should listen to the Pope because 1) we still have separation of church and state and 2) most advocating for better treatment of immigrants are democrats who are pro choice and it is hypocritical to ignore the Pope's words where it is convenient to your arguments |
No,I'm saying what the Pope says doesn't matter with regard to US policy. |
|
In what ways do we treat undocumented immigrants as “inhuman”? I genuinely don’t understand. They are sent home. As they should be. No one starving them or killing them etc.
I don’t care what the Catholic Church thinks about anything. Signed pro choice, atheist Republican |
He will have a new nickname by this weekend. It will get posted on truth social. My best guess is “Leo the lunatic” or “Leo the loser”. |
Yes, and put them to work cleaning our toilets and picking our crops while paying them under the table. Duh! |
Dems don't pretend to be religious, and they are more "pro life" in supporting babies and children, refugees, orphans and widows (something the Bible teaches) than MAGA. Faith without deeds is dead - James 2:14-26 |
