I would like to have strong words with whoever schedules kids sports early on weekends.

10? pffft. Hour hs baseball team had games go past 11pm when we were at schools 45 minutes away.

Americans are insane.

There is zero wrong with wanting to sleep on weekends so your body is rested and you are healthy. Shaming someone for wanting rest is psychotic

She started with the tone. Acting like youth sports are doing this just to torture her. Or thinking $50 can magically make more umps and fields available. She could have nicely inquired the reason and we would have told her. She didn’t.

As said before it’s venue accessibility and availability. The younger kids get the earliest slots.

Also OP, you think it’s one magical person doing this? It’s multiple leagues competing for the same spaces so each club has a person working with dozens of other club reps to coordinate it.

Or worse, those games are during the week and you are so tired and on the weekends they are all out driving and you can’t sleep because you are too worried. Then they sleep in the next day but you can’t sleep in because you naturally get up.

Sorry- it’s the morning after homecoming. I would trade right now for that 8am rec soccer game just for one weekend for a break.

Huh? Most old people I know stay up very late. Surely 40-50 year olds can stay up until midnight?

Sure, but it sucks when I get up at 5:30 for work.

No freaking way. Bed by 10 pm or gtfo.

+1.

PP is one of those insecure liars that wants people to believe they are up until 1 am and their alarm goes off at 5 am and they just 'tough it out'.

Had a son that played baseball for a while, and while I love baseball, the games really can run too long. My next kid played softball and I was like "Yes! Seven innings is perfect. No need for 7th inning stretch -- we are going home!"

NCCA statistics show that only a minuscule percentage of high school athletes will play professional sports.

1 in 610 (0.16%) will get drafted by a Major League Baseball team

1 in 10,399 (0.0096%) will get picked by an NBA team

1 in 12,873 (0.0077%) will be chosen by a WNBA team

1 in 3,960 (0.025%) will get picked by an NFL team
This makes no sense to me. NFL teams have far more players on a team than an NBA team. Baseball makes sense, since it has AAA and AA teams.

I agree ☝🏽.

1000%.
I think the reason kid’s sports are scheduled so early in the morning is likely because adults want to keep kids on the same morning schedule that they have during the school week?

You choose it, OP. You keep choosing it even though you hate it. That’s a you problem.

Ditto. My kid is built like a linebacker and has been begged by coaches to play everything but thankfully he wasn’t interested in sports. He loved orchestra and that schedule was perfect for our family.

Your son is gay. You know that, right? Nothing wrong with that, but that is why he doesnt play.

Wtf?! Americans are truly insane. Just admit you are obsessed with sports for no good reason. There is nothing you learn from sports that you cannot learn by another means. Nothing special about sports. NP btw.

You are insane. Only gay males play in orchestras? What a simple brain you have.

Parents would gripe more if they scheduled sports for the evenings when they want to go out with the hubby.
