When I was a teen I had a manager who was basically high on meth the whole time and would be just randomly cruel to people when she wasn't high. I was absolutely miserable and am glad I quit.

These responses are crazy…

Op, this is part of life and working. There will be crappy supervisors and co workers. Your dd will need to learn how to handle them and how to fit in, or at least get along. It’s hard to tell but I suspect dd is shy and a goody goody and this co worker finds her to be a drag. So maybe dd needs to loosen up a bit, or find a way to ignore the supervisor or clap back even. Whatever it is, she needs to do it. You can role play with her, and talk to her, but don’t encourage her to quit for gods sakes, or to go to HR. Sorry, but HR is not meant for a single mean comment to a part time worker.

It is good that dd is experiencing this now with a job she doesn’t care about. Much better now than a real job.

Good luck

OP you are only getting her side of the story. there is definitely more that she is not telling you. Is she a debbie downer?

Anonymous wrote:“Poison” is an incredibly strong word. It seems like you and dd have not given any serious consideration to the idea that she might actually be upsetting coworkers. If the supervisor is 100% out of line and this isn’t a job with a HR department your dd can talk to (retail store, fast food), she needs to find another job. It doesn’t appear to be a good fit.

I am OP here. I agree with you but in this case I know my daughter has clean hands. She is the friendly type to be polite, never ignore anyone . With that being said she will not go out of her way to get to know people.
I thought this was called being an introvert and not poisoning the environment. Ugh.😞

They has to be more to this. Someone wouldn’t say that just because someone is an introvert

If I were you, I would let my daughter handle it.
