This year's calendar stinks for ES kids but for HS seniors...

Who said they’re a good employer? Certainly not me. But the client of this calendar is the teachers union, absolutely not the best interests of the students.

Or prove me wrong— show me the rigorous data that FCPS used which shows early elementary students are best served by irregular schedules and a lack of routine or consistency.

No one cares about elementary students. High schoolers’ sleep and grades are more important.

October 6-10 and the last week of the quarter October 27-31 are full weeks.

Nope. PSAT is on Oct 8 so that’s a day off.

Also, Oct. 31 is an early release day.

October 8 must not be off for all schools since it's not shown in the calendar.
October 27-31 is a 5-day week it just includes a short day on Oct 31.

Sophomores and Juniors all take PSAT if they opt in, and Seniors take the SAT if they opt in. Freshmen all get the day off. This has been the case for quite a few years--When my son was in HS the freshman took the PSAT 9 but they don't offer that anymore. I opted out when DD was a sophomore and she won't be taking the SAT this year since she has already taken it three times and has a good enough score. All ES and MS schedules go on as usual.

Like K said earlier— I’d support a data-driven regular 4 day school week for some HS students. Let the fifth day be supplemental for kids falling behind. But you’d be kidding yourself to think that’s what happened here.
