You guys know how the wholesale produce market works right? Even small farms and farm markets have "firsts" "seconds" "donates" "pig food" and "compost." You get what you pay for.
If you want the best fresh food that was picked and shipped to be shelf stable for the maximum time -- that'll cost you. If you are shopping at a discount store, buy small quantities and use them (or freeze them) within days, because they will not last as long as the firsts that went to another store. the food is perfectly fine, it just may not last as long. |
So you support modern day slavery? Tell me more about how virtuous you are? https://traccc.gmu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Human-Trafficking-and-Labor-Exploitation-in-United-States-Fruit-and-Vegetable-Production.pdf |
Lidl consistently has good cheese, often it is split into 2 sections in the store -- gourmet and mundane. Much of their cheese is imported from Europe - check labels to see which. Even their mundane cheddar sticks are good. |
I looked up the ingredients. It’s mostly rice, cornstarch and binders. Have you tried simple kneads? It’s pretty good toasted. |
This. Giant's produce is gross. Aldi and Lidl have better produce and it's cheaper. I'm so sick of old, bitter garlic at Giant. It ruins recipes. |
The produce at WF is no better. What a joke. |
Like TJs overall but not produce. Don't buy milk there either even though it is cheaper. |
Try again. These farm workers add millions to our economy. You of course did not read Project 2025. It explicitly discusses farmer workers and how Republicans want children working in those fields for the same pay and no benefits as the immigrants. Are you letting your white kid have that job and skip school? Do you feed your family? Because Project 2025 already has a plan for these jobs and little white boys are listed as workers. Of course no one wants people to be working in horrible conditions for little pay. Solve the problem and stop posting crap. |
Especially the strawberries. May spoil in a single day. |
+1. I have to believe there is some clean Aldi im a suburb that serves as the Platonic ideal, but the few times I've gone into one, the produce section felt like half a step above dumpster diving. Things that should be refrigerated sitting at room temp, fruit flies, the works. |
