Every single time - I'm fed up - this last week so many things had fungus in 2 days. Is it just my Aldi?
I don't see this at Giant Food. |
|
It is probably your Aldi. If a wide variety of produce always has fungus after 2 days, no one would shop produce at Aldi.
Berries do get fungus after a while, but usually it takes 5-7 days. |
| Trader Joe's is like this too. If I need produce to last, the cheap places aren't the places to get it. |
| How long do cherries normally last in fridge? |
| This is why I don’t shop at Aldi and I don’t understand folks that do. |
NO, TRADER JOES IS NOT LIKE THIS! Stop attacking Trader Joe’s, you entitled MAGAs ! |

Had this issue with Aldi and Lidl, not as much TJ’s. I think the issue is the use of Apeel. I hate it and wish we could get all of our produce from the farmers market but…. Money.

| This only happened to me once with Aldi. I went back and returned/reported it. They were really great about it, noted it on a form and inspected the whole lot. |
I've never experienced this at the Alexandria TJ's (closest to me). But agree with OP, that Aldi isn't great. The refrigerated section is too cold, freezes the produce, so it defrosts into something gross in my normal temperature fridge. |
A week+. And they typically don’t get moldy, they rot. |
|
The closest thing were onions but in the past few months they store reasonably long.
Maybe your Aldi is storing it wrong or has slower turnover? Try a different one or switch to a different grocer. |
| Never had this happen at TJs. Maybe it has to do with the refrigeration at different stores. |
Uh, yes it very much does. - 24-yr TJ shopper (go, 1st DMV store in Bethesda!) and a genX who’s never voted R |
| One of the reasons I pay more for farmer's market produce (thru Seasonal Roots) is because it lasts since it never had time sitting at a store. |
+1. Basically don't expect to do many days worth of produce-shopping on one grocery run. |
