This Administration are the ones who are bluffing, attempting to use the threat of cutting off Federal funding to coerce policy changes that align with their political view. As far as the legal aspect, prior court rulings suggest its FCPS who is likely to prevail should the Feds pursue a case (and/or illegally deny funding), so if you are worried about an unnecessary waste of legal dollars, you can direct your ire to the current political [s]leaders[/s] people in positions of authority at DOE.

This. and it’s trans students now. Who is next? You think Trump will stop there? Wake up. This is not about helping people. It’s about inflicting pain and misery.

Boys don't belong in girls spaces.

I can't believe FCPS is dying on this hill after losing the governor's race on this issue 4 years ago.

FCPS isn’t running for governor.

And, what has Spanberger had to say on this? Does she support boys in girl's l9cker rooms and sports? FCPS is forcing her to address that.

I think it’s all ridiculous and vilifying vulnerable groups of kids is disgusting.

But putting that aside, my question as an fcps parent is how do you enforce that at all?

What about vilifying girls who don't want boys in their spaces and sports?

Are you going to go after gay kids next?

No. You can't see the difference?

What is the difference?

You start by not suspending boys who object to girl in their locker room. By not punishing people using wrong pronoun.

Both cases are caused by translocations on the sex chromosomes, so I don't see a difference. The fact that you can't actually answer means you need to study up.

NP. You people are both exhausting. I don’t like the FCPS policy but it’s lawful according to current case law. Meanwhile, Trump’s DOE is violating the process and necessary steps to its threatened action. They’re acting like bullies just because Trump wants to interpret the law. That’s not the role of the executive. I support our checks and balances system in America and don’t want a dictator so I am fine with FCPS defending its policy.

How can you possibly be so confident after what happened in November?

This election, where the governor's race is held on a off year, will be more like the prior virginia governor election than like this past election.

In a non presidential rate, voters tend to favor against the presidential party to give balance to the system. Given the Republican hold all three branches of Federal government and the top three positions (governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general) in the state, the tendency will be stronger than normal.

Also factor in the negative effects of the DOGE Federal spending cuts in Virginia, particular Northern Virginia, the most populous part of the state.

Also factor that Virginia is a blue leaning purple state.

Also factor that Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears is not running a great campaign and the down ballot effects when the office at the top of the ticket performs poorly.

Also factor the horrific job that Trump is doing. Admittedly this bullet point has an ideological bias. The big beautiful bill is/was extremely unpopular. The economy, in my opinion, is in a horrible position with the slowing job market and still rising inflation.

Lastly, as much as some would like to blame Democrats woke leanings as the biggest contributor to the November election, I think inflation caused by the global supply chain from covid and Biden's cognitive decline were bigger factors. Inflation is now on Trump's responsibility. Biden's cognitive decline is no longer an issue with Biden out of office.

Even with all that, Earle-Sears has made huge progress in the polls. That really, really ought to tell you something. It’s not good.

Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting that this woman posed with an assault style rifle. Our kids are traumatized by threats and the possibility of gun violence in their schools. Absolutely abhorrent.

Don’t care. Boys can’t be girls.

What does that even mean?

It’s means I’m voting on the title ix issue and nothing else.

And this is why as a country we are doomed. Do you not care about your kid’s future? Affordable housing, affordable healthcare, clean air, clean water, could go on and on. So short sighted.

This is also why we as dems are doomed. We know that people vote on single issues. We know that some issues are wildly unpopular. Yet we don’t adapt. We continue to tell people that they must agree.

We have to be willing to compromise. We must insist that bullying not be tolerated, but be willing to find solutions to such a divisive topic, such as having single occupancy locker rooms and bathrooms for anyone not wanting to use communal bathrooms and locker room separated by sex. They would absolutely be used by all types of students- not just trans students, therefore not outing them. We can form recreational league sports open to all genders as an alternative to those not wanting to compete on teams dictated by sex.

Only 26% of people say trans athletes should be able to choose based on their gender identity. That number has gone down by almost 10% in the past 4 years. The biggest decline is support is from our own party and independents, as republican views have held steady.

When we lose elections we lose the ability to protect all at risk populations- especially trans folks. Now it’s not just sports and facilities, but bans on medical care, military benefits being taken away, passport markers being denied.

Sometimes progress is slower than we want, but we lose the ability to make any progress when we are unwilling to face the reality of the situation which is also short sighted.

Compromise was something that happened before Trump entered the scene. As far as how people vote, it is well documented how much Elon Musk poured into Trump’s campaign. And then the presidential election was hardly a landslide even after all of that.

People will see what a disaster we are in as those that have kids will see what difficulties these will face once these kids graduate from college. Finding good paying jobs, affordable healthcare, housing, etc is out of reach if we continue on this trajectory.
