| From what I hear, the HR department is super small, like microscopic. Also, due to the workload, the changes in leadership and all the other crap brought on them, they have trouble keeping staff and big turnover is never good for morale. |
I wouldn't consider over 100 employees microscopic. But there is a lot of turnover because they can't attract qualified candidates to lead the office. HR has not had a good chief of HR since the Jerry Weast days. |

Yes, but they are broken into different departments and not all the departments are fully staffed. And now with all the recent fiascos they definitely can't keep up

| Has anyone gone through this process recently? What's the timeline from hire to in the classroom? I'm a former MCPS employee who just came back and was offered a position last week. I was hoping it'd be quick because I am a former employee, but I haven't heard much. Thanks in advance! |
If you officially left the county, you'll need new fingerprints, usually 2 weeks start time from you accepting the position if everything is completed. Email the staffing coordinator who's listed on your email when you applied to that job |
NP - to be fair, teachers preparation programs could use a whole host of reforms and should include courses to address a lot of things that teachers face in real life classrooms. Even teachers acknowledge this. And some of the bureaucrats, also have Master's/PhD's in a specific content area, any may themselves have some teaching experience. |
Part of the problem is that people think school districts and governments have all the same enterprise tech systems and resources that major corporations. They have non idea, what the IT and operational spend is for a major corporation vs a school district. |
Thank you so much! Emailing the staffing coordinator helped jump start the process! I appreciate it! |
