ECNL Top 25 Girls clubs

VDA seems to be producing quality teams at one or two age groups. McLean was strong. Few years back. I believe DC’s issue is that there are too many ECNL/GA clubs. If you could consolidate that talent across four or five teams as opposed to a dozen teams, you would see the DMV produce one or two elite teams every year.

I’m not interested in the DMV producing elite teams. I’m interested in finding a coach and team that is a fit for my DD. Having more teams means more chances to find a fit. The more teams the better.

It’s just dumb content for social media, marketing, etc. Like everything these clubs post on social media, dumb content - hype videos, media day pics, uniform reveals, public “thank yous” to colleges, hype, hype, hype…and no beef. No highlighting of the training and techniques that actually is their product. Probably because they all claim to be serving Wagyu Filets and are handing out Salisbury Steak.

You have an interesting take on US youth soccer. Did you know that through u14 US players are fairly even with European players? What changes at u14 and above we maintain the status quo while European acadamies weed out players. What ends up happening is fewer and few players get more and more resources put into their development. Out here its the same amount of players as u14 and the same amount of resources.

US club development isnt worse or bad its just less focused.

European clubs do a lot of the same things as US clubs through u17 actually

The big difference is US parents and kids are striving for college, European parents and kids are striving for professional soccer. Those two tiers are vastly different. It’s like if one groups of kids is trying to dunk on an elementary school height basketball hoop, and another is trying to dunk on a 10’ hoop. The later group will, on average, outperform the former.

Great for europe. but college is the better goal. pro soccer is a dumb idea except for a limited few.

I really doubt this. It would change the mix of girls and the college commits to such an extent that it would undue everything the club has done to date. Arlington had several girls that are freshman in D1 now who have played significant time and scored already this season. No way they would have been at a GA club.

About the same number of girls from the DMV will commit D1 every year. It's because they are good at soccer, contacted coaches with film ahead of showcases, followed up. It's not because of the club uniform they wear. The number of DMV commits doesn't fluctuate because players change teams. It's the same players on different teams. Y'all are so focused on the wrong things.

What should we be focused on since team success and club affiliation don’t matter? Do you really think all clubs and club coaches are viewed the same by college coaches?

Not all “D1” programs are the same either. Cleveland State and Virhinia Tech are both “D1” but different programs.

Meh, ECNL is going to get another team in the area then. All the leagues are expanding anyway. And besides, the Arlington going GA trolling is a sad jealousy fueled rage. Arl would lose girls and not gain boys if they leave ECNL so for yet another year, they stay. Try to for Maryland United maybe? Or maybe get another EDP team to go GA?
