It’s just dumb content for social media, marketing, etc. Like everything these clubs post on social media, dumb content - hype videos, media day pics, uniform reveals, public “thank yous” to colleges, hype, hype, hype…and no beef. No highlighting of the training and techniques that actually is their product. Probably because they all claim to be serving Wagyu Filets and are handing out Salisbury Steak.

You have an interesting take on US youth soccer. Did you know that through u14 US players are fairly even with European players? What changes at u14 and above we maintain the status quo while European acadamies weed out players. What ends up happening is fewer and few players get more and more resources put into their development. Out here its the same amount of players as u14 and the same amount of resources.

US club development isnt worse or bad it’s just less focused.

I don’t agree, at all, with the premise or any part of your post. U14 US players may be able to get on the pitch w/ players from Europe or South America (South America has a few players too, but many of you somehow never acknowledge that) and get a result but that in no way, shape or form means the development is equal.

U14 is the time when all the years of better development are built up and puberty arrives to accelerate and make the differences take hold. The fact that they are able to compete in a game until U14 only exposes the lack of development even more.

I don’t think anyone feels like Arlington is the top club based on wins.

First, Arlington gets high marks because most of the ECNL girls play in college, and the kinda of college that makes Arlington families happy. Ivy, super academic schools, even D3 schools, but absolutely bumper sticker worthy

Second, Arlington gets high marks because it’s low drama. They seem to just move forward. They don’t seem to have a BP moving around every few years or coaches getting caught hooking up with parents. It’s boring and Arlington parents like that.

Third, because they have a huge rec program they are never short of players. They may not have the absolute best, but they can put bodies on the field at every level.

The ECNL ranking referenced is serious. If your club produces top teams at each age group every year then your club is doing something right. DD has been out of youth soccer for several years but during her time in ECNL, PDA, Slammers HC Koge. San Diego Surf, etc., were elite teams that sent most of players, including reserves to top programs. PDA sent players to UNC, Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Princeton and Rutgers. College coaches have confidence in these winning clubs. I know that most of the players from that PDA team are starting for their respective schools.

VDA seems to be producing quality teams at one or two age groups. McLean was strong. Few years back. I believe DC’s issue is that there are too many ECNL/GA clubs. If you could consolidate that talent across four or five teams as opposed to a dozen teams, you would see the DMV produce one or two elite teams every year.
