Does this outfit sound right? Wedding in the woods

Anonymous
I hike into the deer-infested woods every weekend with the dog and some of these suggestions are overkill. Depending on temperature I'd wear skort or cute pants, crew socks or knee socks, sneakers and really any top with bug spray on my arms. I get cold, so a cute sweater.

Dog and I are tick free

It sounds like they genuinely want you to wear camping clothes?

This wedding sounds 1000% better than a standard wedding.

Sounds like fun to me, ignore the old fuss-pots - I love that the couple is doing something special to them, and that they are sharing with friends and family. Fuss-pots can stay home and just send a gift!

And we think you are out of your mind, little girl.

"little girl"?

You can tell some of the people on this thread don't spend a whole lot of time off pavement...

Jeans at a wedding is such a perk! I love this.

OP, if you're worried about mosquitos, ticks, etc., you can treat your clothes (or just your shoes and socks) with permethrin: https://www.cdc.gov/mosquitoes/prevention/about-permethrin-treated-clothing-and-gear.html. Deep Woods OFF works on skin, but I hate the smell and feel of it. Easier to just treat the clothes you'll be wearing (spot test delicate fabrics; denim should hold up just fine). Use permethrin products outside, and don't let your cats get near them (dogs are fine).

I hike and camp but can't imagine imposing it on wedding guests.

Who is imposing anything? Attendance isn't required.

Imposing it on wedding GUESTS.
Not those who are not in attendance and thus are not guests.

It's an invitation. If you don't want to go, don't. Damn...

That's because your woods are not *that* tick-infested. There's tick-infected and tick-infested. Don't minimize the lived experience of others, please. I can assume that the hosts believe their woods are like the ones you describe, otherwise they wouldn't organize a wedding there... but you never know. If I were OP, I'd check with the hosts.

I'd get some nice dressier pants and a blouse.

good for you. that's like saying i never wear a seat belt and i haven't died yet, so no one else needs to either. i've had lyme disease. it's horrendous. i'll keep covering myself with permethrin infused clothes when i go into the woods, thanks very much.

Exactly. Nobody is imposing anything. If a hike and maybe camping isn't your thing, good for you... don't go.
