Does this outfit sound right? Wedding in the woods

Anonymous
I am going to a wedding on a private property in the woods of Maine. The invite says that we should wear "woods" clothing and "shoes you can play in", because we will be hiking into the woods for the ceremony, and that after the lunch, which I think will be a cookout, we can go canoeing, or hiking, or other things, followed by a bonfire in the evening. People are also invited to bring their dogs and a tent and spend the night, but I rented an AirBnB.

I have a shirt kind of like this:

So basically a T-shirt with a few buttons to make it look a smidge fancier. It's a solid green color that looks decent on me.

I have pants like this:

https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/504199?itemId=252079&attrValue_0=Black&sku=0GGK304002&pla1=0&qs=3156270&pcd=BONFIRE10&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20151164067&gbraid=0AAAAADoqq1LYere0Zi-sTEqakYjYHiBCP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Of9qrX8jgMVCF9HAR0TRix7EAQYAiABEgL9cfD_BwE&SN=findability_search_preview_03&SS=A&SN2=findability_trending_searches_04&SS2=A&SN3=MobilePLA_03&SS3=B&noaa_region=northeast&originalProduct=56777

plus sneakers and a lightweight fleece for the evening.

Does this seem right? I am not a "woods" person, so I don't know what "woods" clothing really means. In my mind, I feel like it should mean jeans and a lumberjack style shirt, but it's August so I'm not doing that.

Not that.

I love camping, and this sounds fun, but is too complicated for a wedding.

Definitely some kind of sturdy shoe. I have some outdoorsy dresses that I would probably wear, but again, I am really outdoorsy so these items are in my normal wardrobe. If your style is different, you’re going to feel like you are in a costume and be uncomfortable.

Your planned clothes are just fine. Check the weather, and you might want to stuff a hat and gloves in your pockets, in case it gets cold at night.

This wedding sounds like my absolute nightmare. I would not attend.

It sounds like they genuinely want you to wear camping clothes?

I would .ake sure to be covered against tick bites.

Hmm. Are there going to be ticks and mosquitoes? I get really bad reactions to mosquito bites, so I would ask the hosts directly. And if there's a tick risk, then showing skin in woodlands is just not safe.

If no bugs: I would wear sturdy shoes with socks, but wear a fun dress I can walk in, plus backpack with microfiber towel and swimsuit for the canoe. Sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, of course. Perhaps cardi or fleece for the evening.

If buggy - sorry, cannot attend.

Woods in Maine? Socks covering your pants. Tick repellent.

Your outfit is perfect, you want Deep Woods Off (or similar) that you'll spray before you head to the wedding, and wear long socks. Sounds like fun to me, ignore the old fuss-pots - I love that the couple is doing something special to them, and that they are sharing with friends and family. Fuss-pots can stay home and just send a gift!

And we think you are out of your mind, little girl.

Bug spray that works is carcinogenic. There is no way on earth I am attending a wedding where I risk Lyme disease and a thousand mosquito bites. I am happy to be considered a fuss pot, but no, I won't send a gift either. Not for the sort of brilliant minds that chose a bugfest wedding.

I think your outfit is fine but second the Deep Woods Off. clearly this couple does not expect anything approaching wedding-special attire.

I’m from Maine and “woods clothing” to me means jeans or hiking pants, hiking boots, long socks, a tee shirt and flannel. Your outfit looks more coastal casual to me.

This wedding sounds 1000% better than a standard wedding.
