Son versus Dad Height and Weight

Son is 6'2" and 165. He recently turned 15 so probably has a little bit left in the tank.

I'm 5'3" and DH's mom is 4'11" but the grandsons in their family are tall for some reason.

What do they eat? But seriously...

Dad is 5’10
DS19 6’0
DS17 6’2, still grew an inch in the last 6 months.

No idea about their weights. I am 5’6.

That’s disturbing.

I am 5’4 so son got my side but we did expect him to be taller.

Your DH isn't 6' 4" He likely isn't even the 6' 3" and some change he claims he's probably just missing 6 ft so many men are delusional about their height and lie about especially to women who are under 5'6" and can't tell.

Lol, what?? Yes, he is almost 6’4. Goofy tall, is how I have always (lovingly) described him. Sons often do not reach ptheir father’s height unless the mom is also very tall.

Such a classic DCUM comment, a stranger on the internet telling you that, actually, your husband is NOT that tall.

The short men on DCUM are always accusing tall people of lying about their height. They don’t realize that over 6’, no one needs to lie about it and it becomes a disadvantage at a certain height like 6’4 or 5.

It’s weird because objectively they have to see they are still shorter than these men they accuse of exaggerating.

How is it a disadvantage?

It’s a disadvantage to be too tall or too short because the world is not designed for them.

DH is 6’0 and was 150 lbs in HS.
Son is 6’3 and 235!

It’s the video games and cheetohs making your son a fattie.

NP. You sound like you have a lot of experience in that area.

I have powers of observation, it is true.

DH: 5’11” 180 (but was very skinny in high school)

DS16: 6’1” 140 (probably done growing in height)

DS14: 5’9” 135 (I think he is close to done growing in height as well)

I’m 5’5”.

DS’ teachers and coaches are often surprised when they first meet my husband, especially when the two of them are standing together.

My mom was about 5’11” My dad was 6’4”. DS’s three male cousins (my side) are between 6-6’3” a mix of slender and broad builds.

This is great and this probably going to be me and DS, with DS getting his height from DW's family. DS is only 9, so he is the smallest in our family, by virtue of being younger. However, I always make a point of telling him that this is only temporary and that so long as he keeps eating well and drinking milk, he is going to be the tallest in the family within a few years.

Lots of women don’t prefer dating giants. And everyone expects you to be good at sports even if you aren’t. Not to mention trying to find clothes that fit….

It can just be very awkward…and it’s not just clothes. It’s cars, it’s airplane seats…My friend’s son is 6’7 and for max comfort when driving he basically needs a truck. Just lots of inconveniences that usually end up being costly to remediate that most people don’t think about!

NP here. Actually, I had the same thought about the 6'4" husband probably only being about 6'2" or maybe up to 6'3". I'm a 5'11" woman, and you would be very surprised at the number of men who automatically add an inch or two to their actual measured height. I would encourage the 5'4" wife to tell her husband that it is a DCUM challenge, and she should measure him.

I am from a family full of tall males. 6-5-6-9. They do not need a truck to drive. Good god. Yes, seats are tight. Clothes used to be a bigger deal but in the era of internet shopping it's very easy. I am a tall female and it was much harder back in the 80s.

If your cross to bear in this life is you are a very tall male who sometimes doesn't fit in your seat...boo hoo.

It’s not even a disagreement…earlier PP is just flat out wrong. Height comes from both parents.

Dad 6’2
Son 5’9 (in college)

Both relatively thin and fit, don’t know weights
