I had a Subaru Impreza wagon so I've followed Subaru news for a long time.
Subarus are fun to drive but expensive to maintain after 100K miles. They do not have the high quality that Toyotas and Hondas have, so don't expect that. Insurance costs could be high, risky driving behaviors could be high, etc. Manual transmissions are almost gone from the U.S. market as someone above pointed out. The parallel to horse riding is apt. It's purely for fun. |

| My youngest kid wanted a manual transmission car so his older siblings couldn't drive his car. We got him a used Honda Civic. I really enjoyed driving it around town. When he started doing mostly highway driving we traded it in (for almost the same as we paid for it) for a heavier car. |
| Sounds dumb. Why would he want a manual transmission? His friends will probably tease him about being poor. Only poor people get cars with manual transmissions. Even high end sports cars like Porsche are automatic now. |
+1, I text while riding my motorcycle lolz |
| It is a good skill to have |
How come police officers are allowed to operate laptop computers while driving? Are police officers imbued with super-powers? Are they supernaturally gifted drivers? Why are they allowed to do much more than merely texting while driving, while mere citizens can’t even hold a phone in their hand? What are your thoughts about this inconsistency? I’d really like to hear them. |
Because they are rigorously trained |
You are the personification of someone who thinks they “know cars” yet really doesn’t know anything about cars. That’s funny AF. |
What is the training they undergo? Please be specific. I’m not referring to pursuit driving training or high performance driving training - I’m speaking of the training that lets them text, talk on the phone handheld, and operate a laptop. What’s that training consist of? What makes it rigorous? Please cite sources. |
| I love driving manual! I taught both of my kids. No one can ever steal their cars bc no one their age knows how to drive. |
I think I found the idiot, you guys. |
Start your own thread. Totally off topic. |
| I can drive a manual and smoke a cigarette, and text at the same time. I learnt to drive a manual transmission in Italy. |
I think you were my taxi driver in Capri! |
