Northface and Jansport are the most popular.
Lands End is dorky. Plenty of similar priced backpacks that aren’t. See Jansport above. |
| PB yeen one they've had for 6 years! It's amazing quality |
| Lululemon for mine. Expect to have her use it for a few years. Seems well made. |
I agree, no one really cares. My teen goes to a title 1 school and has always had LL Bean or Jansport. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another LL Bean backpack there, there are some Jansports. There are also random drawstring bags, whatever generic backpack Costco or Target is selling is probably the most popular. Also some adidas and some north face. But overall, no one seems to care. Now if you go to a wealthy district where everyone is ultra brand centered that may be different |
To OP: Jansport is the safest to bet. It’s the most neutral option if your teen has no preference |
My kids pick their backpacks, but its from the brand options I show them. That includes my teen, who self-selected the LL Bean Deluxe bookpack over all the more popular options. It's a plain color she likes and holds the immense amount of stuff she takes to school. |
| Our middle school doesn’t allow backpacks, which I think is ridiculous. You can bring it to school but it has to stay in the locker the whole day. My DD has to carry everything in a case-it, which cannot handle the volume of all her things and I end up buying at least 2 per year. |
She picked her own style backpack, you just picked the store so it’s not about you. I looked online just googled kids backpacks and they all look the same. I couldn’t tell what company each of them was from. It’s the colors and designs that are different. |
Ours too! I hate it |
wait, I’ve lost track of who is worse here |
Yes, this one! She has a nice color and I asked if she wanted a new bag for middle school and she said no, she really likes hers. |
No, she’s right. |
I don't know what you're talking about but PP said parents shouldn't be choosing their kids backpack and I was responding that I picked the store and my kid picked the backpack. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that - LL Bean has a good warranty (although not as good as it used to be) and the products are good quality. I know it will last a long time. And my kid has been happy with her backpack for years, so I don't know why I'm being criticized. No, LL Bean is not the height of fashion, but my kid doesn't care. |
I mean, my child had a Lands End backpack in 1st grade that ripped before the year was over, so I don't disagree that they're not long lasting, but if PP's tween wants something with a pattern on it, then by all means let her be. It's not your place to judge a 10-12 year old's backpack choice, what is wrong with you? |
| My kid is using my LLBean from 1999. |
