- Campus is such a dump that opening your eyes is unbearable
- Athletes and non-athletes get into fights if they make eye contact
- Fellowships are so rare that the school holds celebrations if someone gets one
- Academics are so low-caliber that students only go to local state schools for graduate school
- Every single student is an LGBTQ+ test-optional POC

I think that covers it

I think you have them all covered except that the job placement is so bad that kids are forced to go to NYC and work in finance.

Something said by absolutely no one. It kind of gets embarrassing seeing how highly Amherst moms think of the school. I never see Williams, Pomona, or Swarthmore parents act like this.

lol, that isn’t what I hear from the Davidson athletes I know.

Troll
Nonsense comment

Which is why I followed it up by identifying one of the sports. Personally I would chose Amherst just to avoid the over the top Davidson posters here.

You sound lovely and well adjusted. Amherst will be perfect for you.

The lack of self awareness astounds.

Amherst offers a national-level economics department when considered by faculty scholarship in the field, placing 7th in this analysis:

For comparison, Davidson's department, while also in the top 25%, placed 40th.

Doesn’t mean much for business. Colgate isn’t placing better than Amherst just cause it’s ranked better. This is a trash measure.

Does this account for the fact that both Williams and CMC have graduate programs in economics.

How is this a serious question?! Unless the fit is much better at one or the other, the choice is quite easy: Amherst. Whether you want to admit it or not, Davidson is a tier lower.

Don't forget its intersection with "The reason Amherst students go to grad school at high rates is because they can't get jobs."

Why? Like seriously, for a vast majority of students, Amherst is the worse option.

Well, sure, Colgate graduates may place better than — or, at least, differently from — those of Amherst for any number of reasons. In any case, this site ranked Colgate 57th, Amherst 91st and Davidson 118th by career outcomes:

The ignorance shown by so many in this thread reminds me why this country is such a mess. With the angst and nastiness on top of it.

Good luck to the OP. You hopefully have two great options. Despite what the trolls say, you can’t go wrong.

The vast majority of students, aka 93%, who can’t gain admission you mean.

Or, they’re highly intelligent, academically successful, and professionally ambitious compared to those with only undergraduate degrees? Amherst is top-ranked for outcomes in medicine and law, for example.

+1
But if a given student doesn’t care and simply likes Davidson better, for whatever reason, fine!

Sure? That doesn’t change my point.
