And please visit Charlotte before you insult it.

It’s also just a pretty great place with nice people (but bad food! Like really bad. So take note if that’s important)

Are they keeping the same food vendor when the new dining hall opens or getting a better one? Still on track to open fall 2025?

Fall 2026.

Right, another year to go. I don’t know about the vendor but the new dining director seems to be implementing some positive changes, such as ice cream sourced from a local creamery and coffee from a local cafe. They’re introducing more flexibility with meal plans, which also seems good.

Amherst is the gold standard Harvard of SLACs. Noone even cares about Davidson, might as well be a community college.

Charlotte and the area around it are really nice looking. It’s the people that matter. Both places have decent good people but are different. North Carolina is one of the most religious states in the country. Massachusetts is one of the least religious. Charlotte has a lower cost of living but also have lower salaries. Boston has a large diversity of culture with many more museums, higher ed, better sports.

Besides the religious aspect there shouldn’t be a problem finding people you like.

*Princeton. Williams is barely at Amherst level, and no one else can claim a better academic experience or outcomes. Meanwhile Davidson is a third tier, maybe even fourth tier, lac with little purpose.

Way to publicize your ignorance, PP. Not that rankings mean all that much, but you might want to review them periodically to get a clue about purpose, outcomes and recognition. Oh wait, that would require thought. Carry on.

The person dumping on Davidson clearly knows nothing about it and has an ax to grind. I’ve noticed a spate of thread’s denigrating Southern schools and pumping NE alternatives, which makes NE students seem insecure, arrogant, condescending, and judgmental. Not interested in hanging with EQ-deficients.

Your conclusion is a huge jump from an anonymous poster denigrating Davidson to northeast students being insecure and arrogant.

The recent negative put-down of Davidson seems really odd. Sounds like a kid denigrating a peer’s choice. No adult would be so invested.

You neglect to mention the Davidson people putting down Amherst

Have you read the multiple posts inaccurately describing the students who attend Davidson, as well as the people who live in NC and the Charlotte area, even referencing NASCAR and religious views?

Uh, I think you mean that Davidson people are responding to insults by (an) Amherst supporter(s). Most Davidson responses have been around clarifying facts about Davidson, not about denigrating Amherst. The whole thread seems contrived to generate controversy, not to illuminate anything genuine. In other words, a troll thread.
