DP. There are some restricted majors - basically all of engineering, business, and architecture (I believe). Any other major is fine to switch into. My DC switched twice with no issues. |
Huh? It’s no longer worth responding to your drivel. |
| 1360 and 1260 are different enough. |
| try Iowa state...costs could be comparable |
uva and tech are out, not reaches, if otherwise no hook. ED to JMU. |
Yes, they are, and that poster is just being contrarian. Nobody who knows anything about college admissions in Virginia truly believes that JMU and Virginia Tech are equally selective. No one. |
|
The cut off for the bottom 25 percent at Tech is 1240. That’s pretty much the average at JMU.
The cut off for the top 25 percent at JMU is 1310. That’s below the AVERAGE for Tech. 20 years ago, they were the same selectivity wise. That is no longer the case. |
| Why does any thread about the VA state schools bring out such weird responses? |
Nice suggestion, but JMU doesn't offer ED. |
Not silly at all. My son hates "living in the mountains". No everyone enjoys rural living or vice versa. |

Read up a little more on how to find schools with affordable tuition. Going in-state is a good idea in general, but UVa is still $40k+. State schools in other states exist to serve the students of those states -- with some exceptions, they are not in the business of discounting tuition for outsiders. On the flip side, many private schools have the funds and flexibility to offer merit awards.
It kills me when parents insist their kid only apply in-state "because that's the most affordable option." Not always. |
Not really. Lots of overlap between JMU and VT students academically. |
Jmu doesn’t have ED |
You really need to go away. |
