Grades almost all 4s even in math.
We had a weak HOPE. 1R, 1O, rest S.
Child has an IEP for Autism. Didn’t include it but provided lots of information and made clear there were no behavioral issues.

On appeal we provided WISC and WPPSY with letter from neuropsychologist and took the opportunity to submit more work samples than what had been provided in first submittal. Work samples were rocketry projects, designing and building functional structures, a business, and creative pursuits.

Suspect that since our in school testing wasn’t great that we got in based on very strong work samples, good grades and WISC.

Wouldnt it have been easier to just say you got in on appeal, in lieu of itemizing everything? We too got in on appeal but elected not to brag about it

Geez - I think they were trying to be helpful to others going through the same process? I would much rather someone post their stats and give background on their application, versus just stating their child got in on appeal - that helps nobody.

+1. I regret not appealing now given those low scores that person posted. Happy for the person though, AAP needs a wide range of gifted types, not just awesome test takers.

Most of the time the messages on here don't mean much because it's a different pyramid but we are also Hayfield. It is crazy to me your child was not admitted.

Both kids (2nd and 4th) got in this year. While I would generally think of the older one as more gifted she did not get in previously.

2nd grader
NNAT 132
CoGAT 126
VALLS was 712
Iready was 86%
We didn't do any other testing or studying. I did apply for her mostly to see if both kids could go to the same school. I did not submit any work examples. I did explain all of her testing was prior to being placed on ADHD medication

4th grader
No NNAT bc we were not in FCPS
CoGAT 128
SOL math was highest in her school, both advanced pass.
Iready math 99%, reading 95%
Almost all 4s every year

When I applied for her in 2nd grade I submitted work examples. I did not this year, just filled out the parent referral form. There is hope if your kid does not get in for 3rd grade.
Although we'll see if they like the new school or not.
