I’m not saying that APS should change the date of when the school is observing it, just explaining why it changes. I think there should be a policy that it will not change no matter what date the moon is seen, etc. Completely absurd to cancel these end of year celebrations for a very Small population of student/teacher teachers. |
Well buckle up because June 14 the whole city is gonna be shut down for Trump’s birthday/military celebration. |
That's not a school day |
Stay on topic. While the birthday parade is also insane, it’s on a Saturday and not related to APS. |
Yet. |
NP. I still don’t understand how this isn’t known in advance. Was it not verified because of the cloudy weather? |
That can be a factor, yes. |
Sounds like Scientology |
What specifically sounds like Scientology? |
I’ll admit the only thing I know about Scientology is that Tom Cruise is a member of the religion.
But COME ON. APS should not cancel school because of what’s going on with the moon. And people wonder why Trump won. School is more important than any religious holiday. The only reason we MUST close for Christmas is because there is a significant enough drop in attendance during those days to warrant it. Cut the religious holidays and go back to excusing absences. Let’s not be held hostage by those whose religious dates can be moved on a whim. FFS. |
This is just another example of how school districts do not prioritize learning. neither political party cares how much kids actually learn in school. It is depressing. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/10/us/education-politics-learning.html “Right now, there are no education goals for the country,” said Arne Duncan, who served as President Barack Obama’s first secretary of education after running Chicago’s public school system. “There are no metrics to measure goals, there are no strategies to achieve those goals and there is no public transparency.” |
Do you plan to email the school board tonight? The vote is tomorrow. |
I'm sorry, that is no way to run a school system. So all over the WHOLE world the Eid day changes from region to region based on if its cloudy?? |
Tell it to the school board. They vote for this nonsense. |
Wish we could’ve asked the school board new candidates what they would’ve done in the situation… |
