DP. The comprehensive review isn't borne of a boatload of major problems. It's borne of Karl Frisch's political judgment that offloading boundary recommendations on a third party consultant could help politically ambitious School Board members avoid accountability. Wouldn't have mattered if there was a western HS; they'd still want to point to an outside consultant's recommendations for dealing with overcrowding in Tysons, at West Springfield HS, etc. A bunch of random stuff like eliminating attendance islands that no one cared about got pulled into the study to make it look like a consultant was necessary, but it's ultimately all politics. |
You sound crazy. |
Correct. I'm the first PP and this is what I meant. |
Delusional. But no new high school is going to get built so you should think whatever you want. |
Well, you're charming. And yes - well aware that no new school will be built. Not sure what that chip on your shoulder is for... |
They don't need to build one, it's already there. Just buy the KAA building and swap the sign out front. |
| Please no. Nike is a very well utilized and beloved park. |
Does it have needed fields? Lab space? Enough parking? Classroom space? Gyms? |
There is no need. FCPS is not going to get a new high school -- there is no need (enrollment is going down) to spend many, many millions of dollars in this way. They can redraw the boundaries to reduce crowding in certain schools and increase the student population in under-utilized schools. |
because the Nike Park neighborhood is zoned all the way in Langley. Herndon doesn’t take those kids. |
No need. There will be far fewer students in FCPS next year, because: - RIFs/Fork/VERA - ripple-effect from above - self-deportations & moves to areas considered “safer” from ICE (ie California & New York). |
| What happened to the daily references to “equity warriors” and “School Board shills”? Did someone leave the room? |
I love living rent free in that dense brain of yours. |
| So silly I don’t know where to begin. I can’t believe that this has spawned four pages of discussion. |
|
They won't build a new school.
If they did build a new school, they wouldn't build it on park land. If they did build it on park land, they wouldn't build it in Great Falls. Put a fork in it. |
