Maybe if Elon swoops in with some money for the governor she will relent. Because without free trade that is how things will work. We are already seeing the corruption.

Wisconsin does allow Tesla to have service centers. There is one in Milwaukee and one in Madison. Other states likely do the same. And Tesla has mobile service that comes to your home or business. It would be very weird if states did not allow cars to be serviced. So it's just the pick up of a new car. I am sure Tesla will find a way around that. It's still ridiculous.

OP here. I did say that I hate Trump and what he is doing to free markets, but maybe you didn't know that was my post so I'll say it again. Loud and clear, I generally dislike tariffs and love free trade. I voted for Harris. The governor of NY is doing the same thing that Trump is doing. Unless there is a very good reason to have a tariff, there should not be a tariff. If there is a very good reason to keep Tesla out of NY, then sure. But her reason is merely partisan revenge. She is pulling a "Trump". Or maybe it's all just performative and Tesla will be allowed service centers and easy access to ship in their cars to customers. Maybe it doesn't matter at all. Clearly she is afraid that Tesla might sell some cars in NY and she wants to stop people from being able to buy them. If someone doesn't like Musk they are not forced to buy Tesla cars.

This tit for tat revenge stuff is not helping our country. It will go on and on and lead to more corruption. The governor of NY is playing the game now.

Whack a doodle conservatives said states should have absolute control over stuff like abortion, vaccines, abortion pills, etc. Why not over EVs too? This is just a different form of states' rights. If states are able to ban federally approved mrna vaccines, then other states should be allowed to ban EVs. No different. Conservatives are the ones who want to destroy interstate commerce and the power of the federal govt to unite the country. Give it to em.

Elon had nothing to do with abortion, vaccines, abortion pills, etc. And Elon is totally against the tariffs. Elon made a huge mistake with DOGE, yes. But Tesla is a good company and striking out against it is not going to help with all that stuff (abortion, vaccines, abortion pills). You need to protest in front of the representatives in Congress. Elon cannot change them.

NY isn't blocking GM from anything because their figurehead didn't try to destroy democracy and rob hundreds of thousands of their income. I'm not sure where you get that Tesla is a good company when many US citizens view it as an existential threat to society.
