Federal immigration authorities seized a family of U.S. citizen's phones, laptops, and life savings in Oklahoma City, before forcing them to stand outside in the rain in their underwear.

Newsweek has contacted the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for comment.

Why It Matters
President Donald Trump has pledged to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. His administration's hard-line agenda and ICE's aggressive approach have sparked concern among immigrant communities.

What To Know
The woman, identified by Nexstar's KFOR as "Marisa," had recently moved with her family from Maryland to Oklahoma City, arriving just two weeks earlier.

On Thursday, April 24, around 20 armed agents stormed the property.

"I don't know who they were," Marisa told KFOR. "It was dark. All the lights were off."

Marisa said the agents forced her and her daughters outside into the rain before they had a chance to get dressed.

"They wanted me to change in front of all of them, in between all of them," she said. "My husband has not even seen my daughter in her undergarments—her own dad, because it's respectful. You have her out there, a minor, in her underwear."

Marisa discovered that the names on the search warrant didn't belong to her or anyone in her family. Instead, she recognized them from mail still being delivered to the house—likely addressed to former residents.

We just moved here from Maryland," Marisa said. "We're citizens. That's what I kept saying. 'We're citizens.'"

"They were very dismissive, very rough, very careless," she added. "I kept pleading. I kept telling them we weren't criminals. They were treating us like criminals. We were here by ourselves. We didn't do anything."

Marisa said the agents searched the entire house and went through their belongings, ultimately seizing their phones, laptops, and their entire cash savings as "evidence."

I don't understand how the FBI and ICE find this level of incompetence acceptable. So many Americans are armed. Homeowners have every right to blast away at thugs kicking in doors. These kind of stupid raids are going to get people killed. There should be a higher bar before attacking a house. But it seems like so many federal law enforcement members are just dense. People with an IQ above room temperature don't join ICE.

I guess Kristi is too busy trying to find the contents of her purse to have someone comment.

Marisa said the men identified themselves as federal agents with the U.S. Marshals, ICE, and the FBI."

Why did they need 20 people from three different agencies to serve a search warrant? Given that so many Americans have weapons, this is an accident waiting to happen--either an LEO will be shot or an innocent citizen will.

They probably heard that there would be children in their underwear so there was an atypically high turnout. Only trumps best, you know.

How do we know these are real ice agents....starting to feel like it's the criminals that were pardoned from J6 charges....like dummy's own militia.

Exactly. No one is going to test ICE, FBI or the local police soon. This is how you get to citizens saying defund them.

This is so wrong. God, not even the MAGA can defend this.

MAGA is probably proud of this.

Homeland Security admits Oklahoma raid targeted wrong people

For days, we have been asking the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, for answers.

They finally responded Wednesday, confirming the raid on Marissa’s house was part of that nationwide operation, and admitting for the first time that Marissa and her family were not supposed to be targeted.

Telling KFOR, “Ice was carrying out a court-authorized search warrant for a large-scale human smuggling investigation. The search warrants included the location of an address where U.S. citizens recently moved. The previous residents were the intended targets.”

Jesus. Now people who have just moved have to be terrified too.

Did they get back everything seized?

This story is not correct. As I suspected when I asked why a search warrant, the target was not just the people who used to live their, but the property itself. One of the group they were targeting was still paying utilities. They claim to have seized electronic devices from the group.

So you’re justifying their savagery. Marissa, who was still under duress, told us all what they did. They took her money, identification, and devices. Humiliated and traumatized her daughters. Did they take the mail from previous owners that she had on her table? She said and did everything right. Trump scum drips from the top down.

I am a landlord and deal with tenants forgetting to stop their utilities or change them over on the right day all the time. That doesn’t justify this incredible f***up.

I heard an interview with Leavitt yesterday and she refused to apologize for this.

Not just a matter of wrong people they were trying to pick up. They suspected the house was used for human trafficking.
