they may have been advertising the house for rent and collecting rent money from “Marissa” before the house actually belonged to them, according to this timeline, as Marissa said they moved in before the date the deed was recorded.

I’m not sure how fast Oklahoma does this but in Maryland deeds can get recorded around two months after the actual sale goes through due to backlog. It’s likely that no one did anything wrong. Except for the thugs that work for DHS.

I feel for the innocent parties involved. Assuming the new owners and Marissa’s family are completely cleared, and DHS seizes the house, it seems like DHS should have to pay the new owner fair market value (what they paid for the house and any improvements, given they had owned it less than 90 days prior to the raid), and they should have to make Marissa’s family whole.

Oh don’t get me wrong — I don’t think they WILL do those things, I just think that’s what’s right.
