In a world of stupid threads, we have this gem asking, yet again, which sex is more attractive. For thousands of years, humans have placed a premium on female attractiveness. The result is that women, even in this enlightened age, are still judged (by both men and women) more by their appearance, so they are pushed to put more effort into it. We should be more concerned about the OP, who, at an advanced age, does not understand the meaning of "objectively." A person's body temperature can be measured objectively (all the people measuring can use the same equipment to determine a result based on the measurement criteria. Please tell me, OP, what tool can you use to calculate which sex is more attractive? Please do not answer (like the poster quoted above) with drivel such as "I'd say". |
| It depends - out of our group of friends I'd say probably half the husbands are quite good looking but I was just in a grocery store in a rural area last weekend and I saw zero attractive men. |
This is one of those stereotypes that just won’t die. Like men being hunters and women being gatherers. Actually pay attention to history and maybe you’ll change your mind. |

50’s guy here. I’d say across the board the people who take care of themselves (and start early) are the most attractive. Fitness - lifting to retain body mass in the right places, some kind of regular cardio to keep your cardiovascular system healthy, getting a good amount ot sleep and eating healthy + drinking plenty of water….thats sort of the recipe for looking your best and feeling/being the healthiest at whatever age you are.
And the older you are, the harder it gets. |
| I'm 48M, close in, educated circle. I would smash probably 25% of my kid's friends' moms. A couple of them are actually still what I would call hot. |
Pp you are quoting and I’d say you need to get a life… |
. First, address the topic at hand. No previous post addressed men being hunters and women being gatherers. Stay on topic instead of posting word drool. If you have any proof that the stereotype of humans placing a greater value on female attractiveness is false, present it. Here is a Pew study noting that the top trait Americans value in women is attractiveness: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2017/12/05/americans-see-different-expectations-for-men-and-women/. |
You can say (or write) what you like, even if it is stupid. However, you need to get an education and learn the difference between an opinion (usually subjective) and a fact (which is usually objective). Or maybe you should STFU. It would be easier for us and less embarrassing for you. |
You should pay attention to this Journal of Evolutionary Psychology (an open-access, peer-reviewed journal) article supporting the theory that humans have placed a premium on female attractiveness: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/147470490700500208 PP, did you go to high school? It might be time to refresh your (very weak) research skills. |
