Never look in the kitchen of most restaurants then, especially chain ones.

40 years ago I remember peeking in the kitchen of a restaurant when the door swung open, and every cook in their was just in boxer shorts and a wife-beater tshirt, and shoes, cooking away. Guess it was hot in the kitchen!

I only eat at restaurants where I know the owner or the cook staff, or don't eat out.

You know the entire staff of every restaurant you eat at?? I smell a liar.

Exactly. And even if you do have a car, are you going to get it out of the garage and spend 45 min plus potentially each way and deal with finding parking to pick up your food or is it worth an extra 10 bucks to have it delivered? Mostly the latter.

Bicycles are a thing. Just avoid those battery exploding EBikes!

Of course. Small places tend to have just 2 or 3 cooks.

Some places cook their food in front of you as well, such as Mongolian grill type places.

Become more aware and sociable.

You 100% do not know EVERYONE who works at every restaurant you eat at. Keep fooling yourself if you like but you don't. But we all know this is BS and you sit behind your computer eating every meal.

Without a doubt, but restaurants are tightly regulated, have investors, owners, managers on duty, and other staff. Your food is alone with a random ass driver in their tinted window Nissan Altima for 10 to 30 minutes. Not only do I not want such men anywhere near my house -- with my name or phone number no less -- over my dead body would I eat food they had in their private possession.

Bullcrap. And it's hardly urban apt dwellers, the most prolific DoorDash people are suburban SAHMs and WFH lazy asses.

Friend's husband is a director for large restaurant chain and he seems to think, just based on what is most often ordered, that the majority of Door dash customers are simply too stoned to drive. A typical order is a half-dozen cheese biscuits and lava cake. Not exactly a balanced meal.

Most DoorDash drivers are driving drunk and high! Using someone else's identity or car to make the runs. They are regularly arrested while making deliveries. I have personally caught whiffs of weed smoke and body odor when these food delivery drivers walk past me in a restaurant.

Restaurants are also subject to random health dept checks.

Unfortunately for you, I live next door and when I order I tell the driver to rob my neighbors so that it doesn't impact their rating.

That’s a lot of hate packed into one sentence. FYI, Uber Eats requires background checks—including criminal history—before approving drivers, and using someone else’s account is against their policy and gets people deactivated. Also, associating immigrant status or health conditions like HIV with danger is both factually wrong and incredibly prejudiced. You might want to examine why you’re so comfortable stereotyping working people who are just trying to make a living.

You are either a lobbyist or bot for these parasitic industry or in severe denial. You think we don't have eyes? I see the dregs of society picking up the food and their disgusting cars. You guys are insane leaving your food alone with these people.

Do you even know who makes your food or what’s going on back there in the kitchen? The people who work in food have a tendency to have substance issues and I’ve seen first hand a chef smoking a vape pen while cooking. The delivery driver is the least of your concern.

This. I cannot fathom people paying strangers to deliver their food.
I rarely even eat out unless I know the restaurant owners and staff. Most people really have no clue.

I routinely order through Uber Eats and Door Dash for both meals, groceries and or whatever else I need. Why not? This area used to be much more sane to drive around in. Not anymore (see thread in crazy people on roads, in stores and in parking lots) leave the driving and shopping soneone else.

Oh and I always give the drivers max points, unless they take forever (dropping off multiple orders) and I tip well.

I wish they had these services when my kids were really toddlers/preschool age. It would have been a lifesaver.
