How do I tell DS his shorts are too short?

Just donate those shorts and replace his shorts with the right size. He most likely won't even know.

Shorter inseams are in for boys. Gone are the days that men’s shorts need to hit the knees! Get with the times granny

OP here. They're not so short that they expose his butt cheeks lol. Quite frankly it's the frontal area that's more of a concern for me modesty-wise if you get my drift.

OP here and um...this isn't me. I suppose one downside of DCUM's anonymous format is that impersonating people is easy. I don't know someone was pretending to be me, or why they were commenting on my son's "frontal area" (although that is admittedly the region that makes the shortness of these shorts a concern for me..lol!).

There is a pervy troll who targets topics involving teen boys. He finds a way to sexualize them no matter the topic. Report the post.

Anonymous wrote:I’m fine telling my kid that something is too short. But I don’t really get the pearl clutching over the boxers being longer than the shorts. Boxers are essentially shorts and they are covering more of the leg. And the short shirts cover the open fly of the boxers and keep anyone from seeing genetalia. So this doesn’t seem weird to me. But, I also have no issue with spaghetti straps where my kids bra strap shows. There isn’t anything remotely sexual about any of this to me.

You can't understand why underwear should be covered? You don't think teens sexualize underwear? That is wierd to me. Underwear is by nature private and yes, sexual at times.

That would make your son so horribly self-conscious as to be genuinely cruel. Why are you thinking about some kid's balls, anyway?

How is that cruel?? Better I tell him that I can see his bits than someone at school.

Same way you tell your DD her shorts are too short.

Well, first observe what the other boys are wearing. I guarantee you it’s a bunch of 70s style mid thigh shorts with socks pulled up and white sneakers. So the short shorts are in style these days. But I might buy him some slightly longer shorts, not the “past the knee and super baggy” ones that were popular when we were tweens/teens in the 90s but maybe just an inch or two longer and not super tight. And put them in the front of his shorts drawer and maybe put the worst offenders all the way in the back.

Why would you be so passive aggressive about it? It's either a style choice, which is his own and you say nothing, or else its a modesty issue which you handle with authority as a parent.

If your daughters clothes were too skimpy would you buy baggier ones and just hope she wears them?

Let him wear what he wants.

That’s what siblings are for😂…razzing each other about clothes, hair, etc. Boys especially

tell him, " i can see your junk."

What kind of shorts are we talking about?

I haven't seen short shorts for boys like basketball players wore in the '70s and '80s.

My kid was a swimmer with a perpetual jammer tan, so shorts were not our issue. Pants were a problem tho! We had to be very clear that even though you could put the pants on and zip them, it did not mean they fit you well.

What's a "jammer tan"? Asking because my son (9 y/o) is going to start competitive swimming this summer and I've never heard of it. Scared of another thing to worry about. lol!

When you wear a swimsuit on a sunny day, your uncovered skin will tan and your covered skin will not. When the suit is form fitting, The tan line will be rather well defined, not diffuse.
