North of North on Netflix

Thanks for the mentions for this show. I binged watched it last week and watched it all again. I love Kuuk. I also love the clothes.

It's got to have a season 2 but I just googled and it isn't definite. Spread the word if you want another season.

I loved how her child was such a sweetheart and not a brat struggling with the separation.

I don’t care about the realism. I’m so tired of bratty kids on TV.

I don't know about you, but I don't think most of the music is mainstream pop:

In this interview the women who created the show talk about their choices in music. At about the 3:00 minute mark they discuss the music. You have to admit Billy Eilish's Bad Guy on accordion is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyf3UJJhLGU

Also the actress who plays Elisapee, Doreen Simmonds, was in True Detective and her voice was used in the movie the Revenant without her receiving any compensation or credit. Her voice is used as she recites a poem in Iñupiaq.

(And also, does it offend you to think that Inuk people might also listen to mainstream pop? Do they need to cater to your desire for traditional music?)

Don't be dumb. Of course, they listen to mainstream pop. My point is that we have heard mainstream pop ourselves. We can access that anytime we want. We haven't heard traditional music, however, and I would love to be exposed to more of that instead of dubbing mainstream songs over with the native language. Why not play original songs if they want us to know about the culture?

I hate to break it to you, but it’s not all about you.

Maybe they wanted a fun mixup of cultures, similar to Siaja herself.

I’m sure you can find traditional music if that’s what interests you.

I hate to break it to YOU but depressing a preference to learn more about the culture is the opposite of it all "being about me."

I simply said I wish they included more native songs. Why does that trigger you?

Np here. You're unbearable. The women who created the show talked about pop music and that was important to them. It was cool that covers in the Inuit language were included.

Well I think you’re pretty unbearable yourself. Just pissing in the wind. Arguing for no aparent reason. Hope whatever is making you miserable gets better.

I'm sure you can find some resources out there where educating non-Native people about Native music IS the point. This is...a sitcom.
