Yet to be confirmed. But regardless, guilt by association is not a thing in America.

Certainly is. You ever hear of RICO?

Moreover, we informally judge people based on associations all the time. Trump and the Proud Boys, for example.

Devil is in the details.

You cannot be prosecuted under RICO because your father in law is in the mob. Are you actually this dumb?

Obviously. But if you engage in predicate acts, you can be charged with racketeering if those acts are connected to an enterprise.

It’s a form of guilt by association.

Likewise, (in many states) a person can be held responsible for the acts of a co-conspirator even if s/he did not plan, agree to, or even directly participate in those acts.

In other words, yes, guilt by association is a “thing” in multiple areas of the law.

So what predicate acts did he engage in?

He never said or did anything pro Hamas?

What if he did? The US is not at war with Hamas. Hamas did not attach the US.

I don’t understand what is supposed to be wrong with that quote. He’s not praising them or anything or the sort. What is the issue exactly?

I would assume that he condemned that horrific action. Right?

Probably about as much as you condemned the IDF for their horrific actions.

Let the facts play out. The public does not know what those close connections are and/or whether he took any steps to support Hamas.

Who did he vote for? Or did he sit out this election in protest. I'll withhold my sympathy until I know.

Sorry I meant his wife.

It is if you are Arab or Muslim. Apparently, protesting for Palestinian rights means you are “pro Hamas.”

So he’s not even been punished for his speech, but because of what he didn’t say? Wow, talk about Alice in Wonderland.

Wonder how long before they start censoring citizens...

How did they find phone messages about Trump?

By searching his phone. There’s a different thread about that case here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1264449.page

So ICE and the DOJ should have to problem presenting all that evidence in a hearing.

This. We still are a nation of laws, not men. The Trump administration will have to prove its case before a court of law. No extrajudicial action allowed in the United States.

And pp is being pandantic about “guilt by association” . She took that out of context of the article for her own entertainment here.

Yes.
We are.
Take a walk around Arlington Cemetery. Visit all the people using VA hospitals and care providers. Those people sacrificed themselves for us to live as a nation of laws. A carnival barker from Queens will not undo that without an uprising “the likes of which the world has never seen.”

The father of his wife, who is a US citizen so they can't deport her, was said to be an advisor to Hamas years ago.

Doesn't that get complicated? Hamas was also the elected govt in Gaza and somebody had to be in charge of civil affairs.
Russia certainly has a terrorist wing of its own govt (murdering opponents and such) as does Saudi Arabia, I'm sure Trump has green card Russian friends and the whole lot of them must have some green card or visa friends linked to either country.
