Oh yeah, right. Cancer is our fault.

FU.

Not saying the existence of cancer is any individual's fault. Things go wrong in the world. Drought, famine, illness. Humanity has made contributions as well through our negative impact on climate change, reliance on plastics, etc.

Aren't droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc considered acts of god? What does that mean when a tsunami washes away a catholic orphanage and kills all the children, nuns, etc? Is that god's will? Is it part of the "bigger plan" that only he "knows" why?

What a load of BS.

what "Act of God" really means is "we don't know why it happened."

BS backpedaling. None of that is caused by "sin".

Sin = world and people not as they were created to be. Reality since the fall of Adam. There will be a new heaven and earth one day. No more tears and suffering.

The observable universe has approx 2 trillion galaxies, and each galaxy has approx 100 billion stars, with an average of roughly 1.6 planets per star. The number of planets estimated to exist ranges in the sextillions (1 followed by 21 zeroes).

The universe is almost 14 billion years old.

There are potentially tens of thousands if not millions of other species that have probably existed and vanished by the time the light from their stars has made its way to our planet, including the chance for other intelligent life forms.

You really think that god would care about our third rock from our star? Why would humanity matter?

Hint - it doesn't.

Humans aren't special. You're not special despite years of brainwashing by your church that your life has a purpose and meaning. Stop believing in myths.

Just like we "don't know" about why the world came into being....either way we shouldn't be attributing it to a god like the ancient people that had no idea about how the world works did.

+1. It's concerning, and should be studied and understood, how these bizarre ideas can become so deeply entrenched in someone's brain so that they cannot conceive of anything else being true, and engage in extreme acts of mind-bending in order to make the narrative "make sense" to themselves. I think by understanding it fully is the only way we will ever stop it from continuing.

A lot of people do understand it and others who don't prefer to think they will live forever, unlike their beloved pets.

Perhaps just say you're a believer, pp. It's ok. No need to disparage OP ever the truth.

As we all know from the results of the 2016 and 2024 elections the population of the US has trended toward a majority being intellectually deficient. I think this is also true in the entire world. Therefore a huge number of people will turn to religion to explain what they can't understand or figure out on their own. This has been true not just now but obviously for all time, but the unfortunate results of this now is that those people are in charge of the rest of us.

"those people" have been in charge for huge chunks of history.

Yes, in some places, but not here in the US

2016 and 2024 were different circumstances.

Can you explain what you mean by that?

Not the highly-skilled surgeon? Not the modern medical procedures and facilities? Not the access to quality physical therapy? So your precious Larla is more important to “God” than a less privileged child? God said, “F that kid”?

You get hateful when others think differently than you do? That’s a you problem.

Do you believe in God?

Do you tell strangers that they are hateful and have a "you" problem? Are you religious?"
