I am calling BS on all these middle aged women with children claiming 26" waists.

A 26" waist would be on the smaller size for a teenage dancer dancing 10-20 hours per week.

The only middle aged womem with that waist size are going to be a handful of asian women, and I cannot believe that there are this many tiny middle aged asian women with children posting in the dcum fashion forum today.

26 is pretty small. But 27-29 is a pretty normal range for a woman of any age that works out and is in good shape.

It’s a pretty normal size for people with eating disorders which we’ve clearly seen on this site.

We always talk about the eating disorders of people who eat too much but on this site a lot of people have serious eating disorders in the other direction.

A 27-29 inch would would be the equivalent of a size 4-8. That isnt scary thin, rather heathy weight and in shape

Again, you won’t understand this cause you probably have an eating disorder, but size 4 is not normal for a fully grown woman.

According to whom?

How would you not know? It’s pretty essential to know your waist and hip measurements for ordering clothes online

I have no idea what my waist size is. I'm 5'7 and 130 lbs and usually wear a 4 or a 6. When I do a "find my size" recommender ordering online it asks me height, weight, and if I like things looser or tighter, if my waist and hips are average or narrow or wider than average. But it doesn't ask for measurements. Never measured my waist. I've had three kids; I have a little pooch.

Why do we care if you have kids?

OP didn't ask if people have had children, they're just throwing that in there because they are terrible readers.

No. People are using it as a brag or a defense for their waist size. Are you really this clueless?

PP asked "why do you care if...." OP doesn't care if people have kids. I guess reading is hard for you too!

54, F, 35".

Which feels awful. I remember a designer doing a fitting for a show when I was 22 and going nuts over my 20" waist. Those days a long gone, never to return.

- 43F, 32" waist

I will add that this is an especially useless inquiry because I can guarantee you only the woman with small waists will both know their waist size offhand and be eager to post their stats.

Agreed, average waist for women is nearly 39 inches and we’re on page 2 and no one has come very close.

This doesn’t sound believable. 39 is a very large waist for a woman.

+1

My doctor measured mine about a year ago when I went on Wegovy to lose weight because of obesity. My BMI was 36, with a huge portion of the weight in visceral fat. And my waist was 40. That is with a very large belly. So yeah, 39 is very, very large and indicates significant obesity, even on a much taller than average person.

I think the high prevalence of obesity has skewed your perception.

+100

Size 12 is not normal -- but that PP probably thinks it is.

Actually the PP said why do “we” care, and I’m telling you why the posters want you to care. You can disagree, and if you have a different reason to care or not, you can tell us.

It must be hard to be this dense. Do you ever talk to people in the real world?

Ha! I had a perfect 36-24-36 until my late twenties. I would have walked around in a thong bikini the entire time had I known what was to come. 😂

Um ok? Im a 40-year old mom who has always worked out. I have a 27” waist and am a true hourglass. (By that I mean my hips and bust, at the largest part, are within 1/4-1/2” of each other). I use a body/seamstress’ tape measure so I can order off online sites. I also like to measure because the scale alone can lie.

Sorry it triggers you.

Oh, and I have a muscular body and have always lifted so I’m not some Asian waif, which is what you offensively imply.
