We loved Montreal. We stayed near Fontaine Park in an old rowhome near tons of amazing bakeries and restaurants. The metro was great and got us around everywhere. My kids ended up making friends at the park and playing there with them all week. They asked if we could move to Montreal!

I loved Prince Edward Island.

We enjoy walking and exploring cities / sites and eating.

I’d stay in the old city (vieux Quebec), which is where the historical sights are located. If you wanted cheaper, it’s not far to walk to the old city ie 20-30 min but the old city is elevated, so you end up walking up and down hills and staircases.

If money is no object then the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac is where I’d stay.

If you don’t mind the hills and want a larger suite with full kitchen, there are a lot of very inexpensive accommodations ie under $100 USD just outside of the old city that are essentially apartments that you access with a code and there are no amenities. Eg Le Lofts Dorchester. They have no charm however, they’re like staying in an IKEA showroom.

We stayed on old city but at the base/lower city in an airbnb. We overlooked the St. Lauwrence river and were near the Cap blanc stairs. I believe that is what the area is called. We've gone twice in the summer and stayed there both times. If I go back again, that is where you will find me. It is stunning and Walkable to everything in old city, the Port area, and the plage.

Quebec:

-Love Quebec City both winter and summer with kids
-Ile D'Orleans (highly recommended for wine/foodies)
-Baie-St-Paul (beautiful little town and you can take the ferry to Isle-aux-coudres 20 min) and lots to see and do
- I saw a really cool museum "Musee Maritime de charlevoix" that looks awesome for kids on the way towards Tadoussac
-Tadoussac is great for whale watching and is beautiful
-Perce & Gaspe coast are supposed to be incredible and family who have been said the seafood was delicious and there's lots of great things with kids.

-I've heard good things about Toronto (great foodie & artsy city) & Ottawa.

-I personally went to Calgary and then to Banff/Lake Louise this winter and loved it!

So many great options. I'm hoping to check out some new spots this summer.

We went to the museum maritime last year and it was incredible for kids and adults alike. I've never experienced anything like it to be honest.

We also went to maison du bootlegger from the maritime museum for dinner. Another absolutely fabulous gem. We arrived at 6pm and left at 11pm and the party was still going on. Tadoussac is incredible. We spent three or 4 nights there. For whale watching I'd highly recommend Tadoussac Autrements. It's the only remaining local zodiac whale watching boat and it's covered!!! Incredible!!!

I wanted to love Baie-St-Paul but it did nothing for me. It was the only disappointment in our two week trip last year. Next time we head up that far way, I'd make la malbaie our rest point.

The drive from Quebec City up the St Lawrence River to Tadoussac, is absolutely gorgeous. Great whale watching out of Tadoussac. We loved our Quebec vacation so much we repeated it 3 years later.
