What do you tip your hair stylist?

Because of the social contract. That's why. In our culture, people who cut your hair get tipped.

My cut is $57 and I tip $15

I tip 20% to my stylist plus $5 to the person who washes me hair.

It’s always seemed to not quite make sense to me, though. A cut (which always includes a blow dry) is more time consuming and involves more skill by my stylist than slapping color my my roots, but I’m tipping almost the same for each because the cost for color isn’t that different than the cost for a cut.
