I paid $150 for cut and fun color for my kid yesterday. Tipped $20.

So you spoiled your kid and undertipped the stylist. Nice.

20% and 5-20 to the assistant/shampoo person depending on what they did.

+1 Yikes

It doesn't matter the cost of the cut/color, you tip 20% for good service. You know that. You just can't stomach shelling out another $100. Don't go to the fancy salons if you are going to balk at the final price.

I do 20% overall and assume that it also goes to the shampoo person. I think I asked once and they said yes they get the aid out on the tips.

Super cheap

How many threads do we need on this? Monthly? Weekly?

Are there really people out there at this point that do not know what the standard is? And that it's ridiculous?

Good Lord, where did you go that it cost that much??

20% and round up. I give the shampoo woman $5 for shampoo, $10 if I am getting highlights which is a more involved.

But my cut and highlight run around $300, not $520.

I do 20-25 percent. usually $350 all in. It’s a lot but I have a great stylist and her cuts/color look good for months. I go 3-4 times per year.

I mean, it was hair cuttery, and her birthday present. They trimmed the ends and dyed a sliver blue. Took an hour, seemed reasonable.

Now I'm second guessing it though--should I go back and tip more? Is that weird?
