520 for your hair? Good lord. I hope it looks amazing every minute of the day— and does itself. Give at least 20%. You’ve obviously got money. |
Are you OP? Better not be if you said $520 at a HCuttery. |
I was recently at Vidal Sassoon, the cost for haircut was $135.00. I tipped $10 hair assistant who washed my hair and $40$ hairdresser. |
I don’t tip; my stylist owns the salon. Been seeing her for a decade. Tipped her, of course, when she was at a different salon but stopped when she opened up her own spot. (Her prices have increased over time; I can’t remember if she charged more when she became the owner.). She doesn’t bat an eye and doesn’t appear to expect it. She takes my bookings and we are very friendly. I tip the lady who washes my hair of course. |
I also tip 20%. I think for the assistant, especially if they are doing something beyond a basic wash (taking out highlights, applying toner or treatment, etc.) the standard is more like 10 now, so that's what I do. Just my anecdote but we seem similarly aligned generally so wanted to give you that data point. |
I tip 20% every time. |
It’s the same as dinner out- 15-20%. Most do 20%. You tipped 13%. |
Why are we tipping people who have a good hourly rate? These are not min. wage servers. |
20% is the norm. Your hair dresser isn’t going to tell you. Are you not American? |
Always 20% |
OP's price was average. I've paid double for a cut, color and style before. |
Nope. I go to one of the most expensive salons in Tysons, and cut and highlights is about $350. If you are paying over $1k for this…well, you better be in Dubai or something. |
+1 Please tip at least 20%. I can’t believe you spent $150 on your kid and tipped your stylist a little over 10%. Gross. |
I tip 20%. I love my stylist. I want him to feel appreciated by me. |
I pay my mortgage with thank yous from my clients. |
