People do this all the time. No reason to think they’re local. They could be posting from Montana. It’s a big country.

A childrens hospital today diagnosed AML leukemia. I'm not sure if they could test bone marrow or tissue same day, so I'm not sure if this is a preliminary diagnosis or for certain. Parents are devastated but hopeful.

Friend is not sure how to coordinate a second opinion on best treatment, and from where. Does the current hospital oncologist reach out to a facility or doctor of parent's choice at their request? And where/who would be best to chose for it? Who is the best for children's leukemia?

My friend just went through this for the last 5 years with her son. CHOP in Philly was wonderful. Her son's Leukemia came back multiple times after he was in remission. In the end, a bone marrow transplant saved his life.

Agree! You are not a good friend OP

Ever considered that this is not the childs parents friend and perhaps the parent of the child? Maybe the parent doesnt want anyone they to know to know they are posting, so they are acting as if they are a friend. You never know.

I’m so sorry for your friends, OP. Boston Children’s was amazing and saved our son’s life (not cancer), they are world class in pretty much every single area of children’s health and helped handle the insurance policy navigation seamlessly with very little work for us. Your friends may want to consider a second opinion there.

We reached out and submitted a request for a second opinion by submitting all our child’s medical records. They got back to us within a week with the opinion and a care coordinator helped with the entire process. Good luck.

Very odd. Who wants to get attention off someone else’s child’s medical details?
