Look this is just about taking over the DC police force. They provide a lot of logistical support for the Feds. If you are planning to use security forces or US military to crush protesters you still need local police under your control.

People are pushed when rising property values increase their property taxes, and they cant afford it anymore.

Senators and representatives have to remain residents of their home states, so they wouldn't benefit from this change.

How could they eliminate or reduce local taxes? The federal government isn't going to have massive resources for new law enforcement here, they're shedding staff in every agency. The administration wants to crack down on graffiti, move homeless people out of areas where tourists visit (they don't really care if homeless people live elsewhere in the city), and sell off federal real estate. And they also want to punish the District and the region for being the deep state and voting heavily for Democrats. That is not a recipe for actual local governance that anyone who lives here is likely to find particularly enjoyable.

Yep except you're missing one crucial part - they'll make sure it only applies to the super rich.

They'll call DC a "special tax zone" that eliminates all federal income tax above $1MM, but keeps all the lower brackets in place to make sure the actual residents of DC see none of the benefit.
