Of course but I like fresh stuff.

What fresh stuff are you talking about?

OP is under the delusion that just because it is in the store, it is “fresher”. Reality = the truck comes 2 days a week max and it’s mostly all the same amount of old. No common sense.

Frozen vegetables are plenty fresh.

I shop at teeter and their produce is not as fresh as I’d like. I could not buy for a week in advance. We eat a lot of fresh broccoli roasted. I can’t do that with frozen and the stalks turn brown after about two days.

I don't normally meal plan, but I will this week. Add to those ingredients coffee and half and half. That should be it.

What storm?

Focus on non-perishables; at least a 2-week supply.

I do my regular shopping but add some additional perishables and things I don't want to run out of, and sometimes treats. I am planning to have the following:
- a few extra fruits/veggies - berries, oranges which keep a long time, apples to make baked apples in the crockpot, heartier lettuce and/or spinach which lasts longer, a few frozen veggies for soups, guac ingredients with extra cilantro for chili, I always have potatoes and onions
- an extra baguette or two to freeze
- sandwich ingredients. soups (make or buy)
- brownie/cookie ingredients
- ingredents for 2 heartier meals we make like lasagna or crock pot bbq chicken
- up the amount of milk
- make sure we have TP and paper towels and cold meds and some bottled water

Really? I often keep broccoli in the fridge for over a week and it's fine!

We are Indians. At the very minimum - we are always stocked up on - lentils, beans, rice, various kinds of flour, cooking oil, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, whole spices, ghee, tea leaves, sugar, milk powder, seeds, raw peanuts, nuts, dry fruits, condensed milk, full propane gas cylinder and camp stove.

We can cook up a storm even if we are stuck in our attic.

I don't fear a snow-storm in winters. We have ways to cook and keep ourselves warm. Food won't spoil because there is snow outside.

Were you here for Snowmaggedon? If so, you would understand why.

This is what I’m flashing back to.

Enough with the lies. No one starved or were entombed in their homes.

My kid went to a birthday party in the middle of it. Yes, we walked her there instead of driving but we were not stuck in our house. We could have also walked to the store if we really needed to.

Why the need to identify "who" you are?? Plenty of people have those usual common ingredients and things in their homes, nothing to do with "who" you are

Oh wow, do not use a camp stove in your attic!

If you're worried about this, you need to step back and get some perspective. This is just too precious.

I roast frozen vegetables all the time, including broccoli. Turns out just fine.

It's not going to be that bad. I just did my regular meal planning for the week and we'll be fine.

Ugh Harris Teeter's produce is awful, actually as bad as safeway and giant. I only shops at Whole Foods, Wegmans and sometimes Hmart for produce.
