If you are in your late 40s or 50s, how much did you make in the year 2000?

We are in mid 50s, and in 2000 I think we were making ~$500,000 combined. We were both new law partners. Our starting law salaries were $69K in the early 90s.

That was my first full year on salary with a masters degree. Federal government GS11 I think (maybe 12?) - $35K.

After reading back some other GS quotes, I either made more or was a 9 not 11

I think I made mid-40s as a new DOJ Honor Program attorney. I can't remember exactly, but it was absurdly low. They got us up pretty quickly within a few years, though.

86K in 2000 - I was 32 and a VP at a bank - it seemed like so much money at the time. I stayed home for many years after that working P/T contract stuff. Just returned FT making 100 K - it feels like what about 40 used to be.

I graduated 2001. Spent a year working babysitting jobs making my own hours and being paid about $20 / hr while living with my parents. Then my parents kind of pushed me to find a “real job” so 2002-2003 worked at a financial company for 28k. Moved to DC and worked at a nonprofit for $32k. Then went to grad school - worked for a professor (it was about $20 / hr) during school. After grad school my first job was $48 k (2008) but at 6 mos was about $52 k and at one year was about $60k.
