The Americans was a phenomenal show, I would definitely check it out. I was late to the game and binged it all in a pretty short period of time. |
I liked season 1 of the Diplomat but didn’t get into season 2. I loved the Americans- I liked the 80s nostalgia with the set design and costumes and loved the way they wrapped up the entire series. |
The Americans is way better, one of the best shows I’ve watched. Go for it. |
No regrets! I wish I could watch The Americans for the first time again! |
Chiming in for the Americans. Each season has a big plot or two related to their “missions” but with the family and friends dynamic carrying and building through. One of the few great shows that truly stuck the landing. |
I'm on the second to last episode of Season 4 right now. It's definitely an amazing show.
But man, Henry's the forgotten child! LOL. |
This. /end thread |
I’m another one who couldn’t get into The Americans but found The Diplomat to be an easy and enjoyable enough watch. I loved Homeland (early seasons) but I’m usually not into spy thrillers. |
Yes it's an incredible show. Like 1000x better. |
The Americans is on Hulu. |
I (mid 50s) liked the diplomat but not the Americans (too violent). Spouse, late 50s, liked both |
I do think The Americans is significantly darker than The Diplomat, fwiw. |
Homeland has way more tension and complexity than Americans. Also more violent.
The diplomacy is lite fare compared to the Americans. |
