If I like the Diplomat, will I like the Americans?

The Americans is one of the finest shows ever made.

I loved the Americans and found the diplomat hard to follow and needlessly complicated and with no real plot payoff so I stopped watching.

I’m the opposite. I cannot get into the Americans but enjoyed The Diplomat and had no trouble following.

Both were so good. But after you’re done it’s hard to find something else as good. I need more shows like those!

Where can one watch The Americans?

This. The Americans is amazing but too much for me. I need an escape so I like shows good but not too much. I can't explain it so I loved Yellowstone and Lioness and Landman. Vampire Diaries but not Trie Blood. Diplomat but not Americans. I think Succession is also amazing but I just can't do it week in and out. It's like having something really rich and it's amazing for a few bites but it's too much for me. I can do Madmen and Suits but hate Game of Thrones. You should definitely try Americans. It's heavier than Diplomat and if you like Americans you may not like former as a result.

There’s is some violence but it’s not excessively gory. It doesn’t glorify violence, the violence that occurs is necessary in the plot.

Yeah, The Diplomat is not even in the same class (nor does it aspire to be, to be fair).

The Diplomat was pure trash. Zero artistry, dumb plot and dialogue. The Americans was one of the best shows ever made.

Both are awesome. Even though both are TV-MA, The Diplomat can be family viewing if you have nerdier teens while The Americans has too much s#x, at least the first couple of seasons.

Agree. The violence is not gory, but it is disturbing.

+1
This is why I couldn’t watch The Americans, or Homeland.
Loved The Diplomat.
