If you are proud of your adult children's careers...what do they do?

MIL is another story, though. She told him that being a veterinarian is for "people who can't hack it in real medical school."

This thread is shocking, why are so many people absolute garbage humans and why are they graced with family still on speaking terms with them?

I think it is weird for you go be proud of your kid’s job.

Are you the braggart type?

One is a software developer working in the medical field, one is a data manager in a cancer hospital, one is a paralegal working in a victims' rights unit, and one is an analyst in a government agency focused on reducing harm.

Awww. Mine is in a helping profession too as a pole dancer. She helps many overweight ugly stressed guys find some fun.

You sound like a gross misogynist.

I hope you don’t have a daughter.

IT exec, bartender, mom @ accountant. I’m immensely proud of all of them.

I have a great job and never felt loved by my parents. My success is no indication that they did a good job but that their emotional neglect led me to seek affirmation through achievement. What makes me proud as a parent is my kid’s happiness.

One works in a hospital psych. clinic, seeing patients, some research ( we’ll see how long that lasts), mentoring grad. students. The other works for an educational media company developing new courses. Both are happy. I have no idea how much either earns; more important is that both are responsible, kind adults.

I agree!! If my mom/MIL/Father/FIL or anyone told my kid that, I would have a stern talk with them and if they ever did it again, they wouldnt' be seeing us.

As long as my kids are responsible, kind, happy and can support themselves, that is all I can ask for.

Proud parents here. Our 2 boys are vet techs and dog trainers. Our daughter is a professional violinist and music teacher.

We all live close to each other in Silver Spring / Wheaton area. Very close family.

Family of educators here. Both of us are teachers, as are our 4 kids. Naturally proud! Like another poster, we all live in Moco near each other.

Some careers do exactly that.

Successful model. You have seen her in magazines, on tv, etc. Not famous, just successful.
