| They're furious. Whether it translates into anger at Republicans specifically it's hard to tell. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/21/us/politics/jan-6-pardons-police.html A Betrayal, a Mockery’: Police Express Outrage Over Trump’s Jan. 6 Pardons More than 150 officers from the Capitol Police and the D.C. police were injured when a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol four years ago. |

From what I hear almost everyone told him not to extend things to the violent offenders, but this apparently was Trump's personal decision. He was probably two mentally lazy to make the distinction. And just wanted to get the love from the J6ers. And again, this is why I oppose pardon powers for the President in all forms. I would prefer they be completely stripped. I say that as a Trump voter. We can't get everything we want out of the people we vote for. But this is not a particularly important issue. And it has no policy impact. |

Man that's a cold way to treat law enforcement...anyone who inflicted a minor injury on Trump would be assured of years in prison, but no such consideration to the average police officer. |
| I’m not shocked that Trump did it, I’m just so disappointed in the hill republicans. So disappointed. Even after everything, this one shocks me. |

How a country treats its heroes is an important issue, but then again you are a Trumper. |
| I will never forget that police officer who got Pence out. If the crowd had gotten a hold of Pence (or other politicians) instead, what would have happened then? How would it have played out? The actions of that day by the police officers were pivotal, and might have turned the history of the country in more ways than one. You will see that history officially rewritten. |

Politicians were much better behaved when they got tarred and feathered now and again. |

 Thank you |

Biden should have made a memorial for them on the grounds of Capitol, Pence and others should if there isn't already |
| Question for any lawyers out there. Does Trump's pardon/commutation have anything to do with insulating him from any future charges related to January 6? If he acts like there was nothing criminal about it, doesn't it personally benefit him? |
|
Trump was smart to pardon the violent Jan 6ers. The pardon just created his own paramilitary force, his own brownshirts. He can sic them on anyone who opposes him. Smart. |
|
Trump is bending power towards the presidency in major ways that are unprecedented. He tried to overthrow the election and he lied about it. Then he pardoned all of the violent and duly convicted criminals that attacked our congress that day. But you sit here and claim that you want LESS power to be vested in the presidency and that an insurrection has no policy impact? |
|
He pardoned them because he wanted to send a message to his followers: commit violence against my political opponents and you will not be punished under my administration. |

DC local police is probably largely blue still Vast majority of police nationally voted for Trump So they absolutely wanted this. He has been v clear about his intentions. What mutiny are you talking about?? |

This is true of my spouse's unit at MPD. |
