| I kind of can see ignoring the politics around J6 overall, but isn’t okaying the blanket pardon a huge personal betrayal for the people who work with each other every day? Not that they won’t just keep doing their jobs, I know they will. But am I overestimating how much it would impact personal relationships? |
| I’m wondering why law enforcement across the country hasn’t launched a mutiny against Trump and his administration for dismissing the deaths of 5 officers killed on JAN 6th. |
| The answer is yes…they posted a response to social media indicating how disappointed they are and how this is a slap in the face to law enforcement. Seems like if the violent communists like we had in the 70s decide to return the capitol police won’t do much to stop them…because they will target the republicans that did nothing and seems like a friendly administration will pardon them. |

There are over a million cops in the USA. Many local cops are MAGA and don't see Federal LEOs as their brothers. |
| The Capitol Police should resign en masse to protest. It’s such a slap in the face to them. Truly a deplorable thing for that shitstain to have done. |
| I would not risk my life ever again because of this. I would become the most "get by" policeperson ever. |

The capitol police and DC police are pretty local. Honestly I thought I was beyond being shocked but I really thought Republicans would keep him from pardoning the ones that used direct violence against cops. But they just rolled right over. |
| Among many of his bad moves, this one baffles me. I don’t understand why he did a blanket pardon instead of reviewing them case by case. For somebody who claims to support and back the blue, he is not backing the blue. He is giving a green light to Police aggression and pardoning it. |
| The “lol wut” posters mocking the idea that law enforcement officers may have died as a result of what they endured on January 6 seem to be missing the point that many officers faced violence and a very uncertain outcome from an angry mob that day. I would have expected GOP members of Congress to support their protectors better. |

We should all be thankful that Harry Potter and the Avengers were able to put away their differences and stop the insurrection before even more cops were guillotined. |
| He only cares about himself. He has never cared about his family, his employees or the citizens of the US. He said he would do this and he did it. It’s not surprising whatsoever. Can we all stop being shocked at this psychopath when he makes good on his threats? The party of ‘patriots’ voted for the clown, many of whom are police. It sickens me but not surprised one bit. |

It is not accurate to say that 5 officers were killed on January 6th. One officer suffered injuries after interacting with protesters and then died by stroke. I feel comfortable saying his death was brought on by the riot but he was not directly killed by them. In addition, four officers committed suicide in the aftermath of J6. This is a very big deal and I wish it would be discussed more and I especially get upset when Trump and others supportive of the riot dismiss this out of hand. Mental health is a big deal for all first responders. Police officers are especially susceptible to mental health crises after being engaged in violent altercations. J6 was chaotic and violent. It was a confusing event and Trump's refusal to send the National Guard to help Capitol officers who were scrambling and did not have control of the situation made it worse. Capitol police take seriously their mission to not only keep the peace on Capitol grounds, but to protect both our elected officials and the Capitol itself as a historical artifact and symbol of democracy. So four officers taking their own lives after this totally unprecedented event that resulted in multiple deaths the day of, a total disruption in an important Congressional proceeding, and considerable damage to the building itself, matters. Anyway, I have a friend who is a former member of the Capitol police force and he is livid about this. He blames Trump more than Republicans in Congress but he does not understand why other Republicans do not stand up to Trump on this issue. He even pardoned the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers who are known instigators of violent activity. It is grotesque. |

5 officers died as a result of the riot. If you don't know that, then you unfortunately, are the low information voter. |
