Since fields are closed, is your club still training?

PSA: Training/practice around here is unreliable during the Winter months, which is why fielding 1-2 fustal teams from your outdoor roster for those interested and not scared away by the knee and joint gurus on here, will find that the group of 8 or so players that chose to play futsal as a form of training will be much sharper this spring and better for it in the end, even at the HS ages when everyone is on the turf/grass field again come March

Indoor practice - attending.

Outdoor stuff (apparently this weekend, a field is clear) - plan to attend.

My kid in in HS and not aspiring to play in college. They're not gonna choose a Zoom over doing homework for 3 APs. They enjoy indoor, so they go to those.

What club is having online meetings? Is it virtual practice? That seems... different.

Any team after that: no. Spotty at best.

Which club is this?

Isn't this the same with all clubs? First teams take priority and they should.

It doesn’t have to be futsal. Kids who go into winter with a plan to train on their own or have backup trainings to makeup for the weather will still be sharp and ready for the spring season.

At least for MSLNext players, the winter is always a good time to shore up fitness. The schedule has been a lot.

Not when we all pay the same fees.

What club has access to an indoor gym for weight training?

Revolution

I thought they just had a rooftop bar. Good to know. We'll see if they get accepted to MLSN.

Not convenient for most of the board but FC Frederick. They arrange gym/trainer time weekly in the winter at a gym called Sarge. It’s a trek for us but we have been incredibly happy with the team and coaches so well worth it.

Who said soccer fields are closed?

RFK Fields are closed entirely.

I actually don’t care if my kid isn’t training at a big club. Plays other sports in the winter. Does fitness. I just wish the club would stop emailing us about training. It’s winter… sometimes fields close. Chill out.

They tried to move indoors after not being able to practice but the place they found was so far and it was late when they announced, they ended up canceling because there weren't enough kids planning to show up.

Not my clubs but I have seen Potomac and Achilles in SoFive running practices.

Looks like this week is another indoors only week

All you have to do is have a tractor with a plow and some attachments and your turfed field is cleared and practice is on! No need to go indoors
