If you SAH or work very part time…

I don't separate. Towels are washed separately but all clothes are washed together.

I’m OP. Maybe you didn’t read that DH goes through 20 shirts (daily, workout, pajamas), 20 pairs of pants, socks, underwear, and 10-12 towels every week. In the winter there are also sweaters and sweatshirts.
He easily has 4 big loads of laundry. We aren’t doing tiny separate loads.

We all do laundry in our house. We mix everyone’s together so we have enough for a full load. Then do a load when we have enough.

It’s so interesting to me how many people separate their laundry! I’m not SAH, I work full time but WFH a few days a week while my husband goes to the office every day, so I do a lot of the home chores, including laundry. I always do his laundry too, it would never occur to me to separate his out and make him do it himself. He goes to the gym every day so I guess it’s a lot of laundry, but it’s really not a big deal.

We each have our own closets with a hamper in each. Nothing to separate.

That’s what we do too. Kids also each have their own hampers.

I've since gone back to work 30 hours a week but no, I stopped doing DH's laundry once we had kids.

We have a lot of black clothes and a lot of white clothes and there’s no way we could wash them together. The whites would be really dingy.

I work 20 hrs per week (used to be full time until last year).

I do all the laundry and always have, but I happen to like doing laundry—it’s my favorite chore. 😂

Small loads?

3 teenagers. We have laundry running continously. Easily 16 loads a week and we have a big ole washer.

We've always done our own laundry separately. We are both particular, and we both work from home enough to do our own laundry.

Isn;t laundry part of the household management?

I do all the family laundry. I feel like it's more efficient that way and uses less water/energy. I also put away my husband's laundry, along with mine, but have the kids do their own.TBH, I feel like it's part of being a SAH parent.

+1 agree. Seems weird to separate out his laundry.

That's a disgusting amount of clothing he goes through. Why is he wearing 20 pairs of underwear a week? I understand changing them after your workout, then shower, but is he changing underwear multiple times a day? Why can't he use the same towel for a week straight? 10-12 towels is wild. Mine are still very clean after I use them... I also wear pajamas more than once.
