MLS Next expects to 'more than double' number of clubs, players with new competition tier

Same crap, different name my dad used to say. He coached travel in the DMV back in the early 80s and had all 3 of us in multiple different leagues/clubs, etc. WAGS ruled for a very long time.

Right there with you Buddy. My son is also a junior and I can't wait until the travel game is over. The leagues never stop changing cuz it's all about the $$$. All the talk about MLS Next as the final savior for youth soccer just cracks me up. There will be another league to come. MLS will dilute itself to the point where someone else will find a way to do it better. Always happens that way.

Just crazy that MLS is trying to swipe profits out of young kids soccer leagues by franchising out their name and likeness or "brand" to independent leagues.

Can you imagine MLB trying to run Little Leagues out of town to make a few bucks?

This where we are, have been and will be with youth soccer. The US soccer kings, MLS and the federation, pining for more, more cash from the kids, aka peasants.

My kids play in NCSL for a small club. Our director was telling us about this and how they might switch the club to MLS Next. I had no clue what he was talking about, but now it makes sense. Will be interesting how it pans out.

No, just talking youth soccer. Nobody wants their kid playing on a second team. In this case it sounds like a third team. Actually, it's more just a branding.

The shysters know if they put “premier elite” in the name they’ll be able to extract more &.

Don't forget the airfare to get there. This is telling NCSL teams that they're something they aren't and tacking on a 'national' tournament or two onto the season where they will play the same quality that they would have if they had stuck with the regional tournaments that they play now
