Exactly. NAL has no name recognition, so putting MLS WHATEVER on their second teams will bring more money in.

Well, the announcement said its obviously more than branding.
What happens next is another story.

Possibly, but just remember. If DMV had 9 ECNL clubs and 1 MLS Next club. Then it changes to 9 MLS Next clubs and 1 ECNL club. Guess what? Its the same talent pool. This has been going on forever and really hasn't improved anything.

Makes sense, but just remember. MLS going to 9 clubs in dmv means more money to them than to ECNL. I bet my Roth IRA you are an employee and hence the ignorance of “not improved anything”

Yup- MLS Next 2. And they can play Hs. SYC does this already. It’s a money grab to get the second and third tier regional level players. Doesn’t really expand much at all and quite frankly dilutes MLs Next…

Except the new teams get to compete in the countries top youth tournaments and be seen by more scouts and coaches

Since it's it own tier, don't see how it dilutes existing MLS Next

Yes, the same scouts and coaches that now go to the ECNL tournaments. Still doesn't change anything.

This is def second division. When you click on application for MLS, there is an option for tier 2.

Anyone putting ECNL in the same bucket as MLS Next when it comes to recruiting must be talking about Girls
Or off their rockers

Except does it really stay as 1 ECNL club, or do more orgs create more ECNL clubs and the level of play at each level gets watered down but families are stuck at each ability/interest level paying more for a level of play that used to be cheaper? My money is on more expensive clubs get created and lower levels of play get further watered down.

Soon 4 and 5 year olds will be paying thousands just to bunch up in a pack and run after a soccer ball.

WHY? This is a horrible idea. WE already have low level tier like Achillles and West VA.

Just checked, NAL is already a half year league U15 and up so HS was already in play.
