Seriously? Side streets not getting plowed. Refreezing overnight.

I live off an arterial street and it is barely plowed

Just curious..did you stay in your house all day? Everyone I know saying things should be closed has dug out their car, shopped, gone sledding at schools in MD, etc. It's clear people can get around..they just don't want to.

DP. We dug out our car, shoveled our walk and steps, went sledding, and I walked to Whole Foods and back. But I actually don't think our street is terribly safe and is going to be worse in the morning. They plowed once this morning around 4 or 5 but then we got several more inches, plus some slush from trucks and cars driving over the snowpack today. If they don't plow again tonight, that slush is going to freeze and I have zero interest in driving on it tomorrow morning.

NP but our street hasn't been plowed in NW. Have left the house several times today but not in a car and while we do have AWD I recognize not everyone does and around us at least it would be at least somewhat risky to get on the road.

My DD went to play in the snow at the school playground with friends and then to a friend’s house. 2/3rds of our school could get to school no problem, because our IB is tiny. Really 80% would be fine, because many OOBers live super close. But the 20% that have to rely on cars? Most of the teachers? Nothing around here is plowed at all. No way they could open schools.

DC employees are being “very generously”allowed to begin working (in person) tomorrow at 10:00. So a one hour delay. Or take annual leave.

DC gov’t employees I mean.

Silly to have closed the government and school. If you’re a Fed, this week is like the pandemic all over again - expected to work, all sorts of New Year kick off meetings, but shut for three days this week. We are barely holding on with school and daycare closed.
